Quietly nice, and very relaxed attitude, within a few moments it was easy to see that he was VERY intelligent. was so much easier than I had expected the first consultation to be. (had expected uniformed weight loss cops yelling at me to get my fat butt out of there )Am going to try to get approved with the new lap-band technique. it looks so much less invasive than the others.
His office staff were SO friendly, they made me feel right at ease. no faults found at this time. After care was THE most important aspect of his conversation. He kept stressing that I had to make a complete change of life style or else all of this would be for nothing. At this time I refrain from an overall rating....we'll just wait on that one.

Dr Wolfe is very straight forward in his manner of explaning about the bariatric surgery.
His staff is very informative and takes the time to explain and anwser any and all questions you might have.
He is very thorough in his presentation about WLS and it's risks. I would highly recommend him to others considering WLS.

I met with the doctor for my consultation. He was great! I was pleasantly surprised. He's a very down-to-earth, warm, caring and genuine man. I am pretty intuitive and this guy is for real and I think he has a great bed-side manner. He laughed and chuckled with me and my partner, Debbie, about a couple of things. I told him that he had a picture on the UC Davis surgery website, he didn't know which one it was. I told him that he had more hair in the picture, but he looked the same. hee, hee. However, I think he will be a great surgeon and I feel lucky to have him.

Well I have only met the surgeon once but from what I have heard from other patients he is the best and has over 30 years experience. I was suppose to have the lap procedure but due to the scarr tissue in my lower abdomen from 3 c-sections I will have to have the open procedure.

Dr. Wolfe is BRILLIANT! My first impression was that he was not very friendly, but the more I know him, the better I like him. His skills as a surgeon are the most important thing, and his skills are superb! I love his STAFF!! Judy, my special angel nurse was with me from Pre-op through recovery. She is a doll.....THANK you Judy!!!

Both Dr. Wolfe and Dr. Nguyen address ALL of the possible risks, and make sure that you KNOW the short and long term benefits and possible complications. (If we could just get them to operate at another hospital it would be PERFECT). I feel like I had the best surgeon in the area. Thank you Dr. Wolfe!!

I was approved for a consultation on 02/09/01. My PCP faxed a copy to the surgical center the same day.
Waiting to hear from UCD Surgical Center.
UPDATE 06/20/01 - I met with Dr. Wolfe today
and found him to be a very nice man. He explained
some of the risks and informed me that I am a candidate for surgery. He took the time to answer any questions I had. I feel very comfortable with him. I will see him for my 2nd consult on 07/25.
UPDATE 07/25/01- Had my second consult today. Spent most of the time talking to Dr. Wolfe's resident. He went over again any
questions I had. He also explained exactly how the surgery is done. He was very nice and well informed. I then talked to
the nutritionist and was able to answer all of her questions. She was making sure I knew what I was getting into. I only saw Dr. Wolfe for a few minutes.
Now I am waiting for insurance approval and a surgery date.

I haven't yet met or made any contact with Dr. Wolfe but I have heard nothing but good about him, except for his bedside manor is a little dry, but who cares??? All I care about is that he knows what he's doing while I'm under the knife.
Update: He requires me to pay for my surgery at the time of service.. thats a problem.
Diane is nice

Having worked with physicians in Southern California for 20+ years, I knew after much research that I wanted Dr. Wolfe to be my surgeon. Dr.Wolfe is the kind of doctor that tells you straight up all the risks & procedures. He is honest & straight forward and an excellent surgeon. If you are looking for someone with the bedside manner of Dr. Welby, then Dr. Wolfe is not for you. He is however, a pleasant, caring & extremely competent surgeon. His staff is helpful and caring. Please note that Dr Wolfe works for UC Davis Medical Center, which is in a University setting, and appointments and waiting time take much longer. All my appointments take 2-4hrs. I don't mind, since I feel that I'm getting the best possible care.
