C. Gary Cooper Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

In the first 5 minutes of my intial appointment, I was unsure what I felt. Dr. Cooper reviewed my medical records and began asking me a lot of questions. Then I saw a genuine warmth come from him as he wheeled his stool next to me and we went over every aspect of this surgery. He explained all the risks and benefits, he explained the surgery in detail, he explained the aftercare program and we went page by page through his booklets that he gives his patients. He explained to me what to expect once the insurance company approves my request. He explained what to expect if the insuranace company denied my request. He was thorough, through and through. I left feeling very comfortable with Dr. Cooper as my surgeon. His office staff, Diane, is also a gold mine of answers to my questions. I made a great choice and am very pleased with my decision to see Dr. Cooper!
Got approved from Blue Shield and am scheduled for my surgery on Halloween!!! :)

Dr. Cooper knows what he is doing. he knew how to get stuff done. with the INC. people staff is great she know her stuff, she know how to writgh the inc and get it put thru. the first time and did the workman comp for me. and the cost was better then wat my inc sayed i had to pay. I am still just a week and half out so i will have to finnish this latter but over all so far so good

In first meeting Dr. Cooper you would think he has no personality but he does you just need to bring it out of him once in awhile. He is very professional and a very caring individual. As for his staff... what can I say they are the greatest!!! They always take the time to talk to you and answer any questions that you might have.
OK NOW POST-OP-----------------------Dr. Cooper was the greatest!!!!! I had lots of complications and he always showed up at around 7am with a smile on his face and I never once felt rushed. Diane his right hand in the office is the greatest, but overall just a real great team they all made!!!!!

I met with Dr Cooper on Monday 7-16-01. He is great. He made me feel very comfortable. He even made a few jokes. By the time I left his office I felt like I had known him for years, His office gal Diane is wonderful. She has been very helpful in answering all my questions and handling all the insurance work. I am still waiting for an approval from my ins. When I left the office I had a better understanding of the whole process and feel very confident with Dr Cooper and his staff. Also his fee is down another 500.00 because my gallbladder is already out.
yeah team!!!!!!!I will update more later after my surgery.

First impression, very nice. I was surprised that the first visit went so fast. He really didn't ask that many questions. Of course I am very healthy so there wasn't that concern. I think it would have helped if I had thought of questions ahead of time and wrote them down to take with me. I was so nervous I couldn't think of anything to ask.

I met with Dr. Cooper on May 24th. He was very straight forward and seemed to realy know what he was talking about. He whent into great detail about the surgery. He was also concerned with other health issues I might have and is requiring me to see a cardiologist to make sure of what is up. I think it is great that he wants to be knowlegeable about my health issues and make sure I make it okay. I am waiting for approval for my surgery now and am realy hopeing i will get approval right away.
Well I didn't get my approval right away and all kinds of complications but Diane at Dr. coopers office realy worked with me to do everything she could. Dr. Cooper was wonderful he is ending his contract with Blue Cross and were just barely abble to squeeze me in so I wouldn't have to go to a different Dr. I am sending Diane flowers today to show her how much I appreciate them going to bat for me. Yeah. Surgery will be August 29th

I had already set my mind on having this surgery when I visited Dr. Cooper and when I met him, I was very comforted and at ease with his knowledge and expertise with this procedure. His personality is very dry, and at first made me a little nervous, but as we talked, he made me laugh. I knew that, althought he was the only one in the area that preformed the surgery, he was good and I wasn't making a mistake in choosing him.
He laid everything out on the table and left no stone unturned. His booklets that he gave me were very informative and the phone list of prior patients made me feel he was confident in his work.
Diane, in the office, is great. She gets the insurance paperwork filed and makes the whole process as worry free for the patient as possible. Calling her with any question is not a problem and she either knows the answer or can get back to you with it.
I've very happy with my choice in surgeon and staff!

On my first visit with Dr.Cooper I thought he was very "right to the point", tells you exactly like it is, and what is going to happen. Very professional. He was kinda hard to talk to at first but then I got a smile out of him and then things just seemed to be more relaxed.
As for staff, Diane is great! She is so helpful and takes care of everything for you, a very nice, sweet lady.
I had my second appt. with Dr. Cooper today, and things went very good. I like him even more and feel that I have chosen a very good surgeon and that Im in good hands.I have heard nothing but "good" things about him, never anything negative.
So far I would diffently recomend him to anyone.
Will type more after surgery....

Well it's "after" surgery now, 5 weeks, and I can tell anyone that I just loved Dr. Cooper...he is the greatest! And I'm sure a few more months down the road I will love him even more, lol. He stresses that you follow the diet in the booklet that he gives you.I have had no problems what so ever and attibute it all to him. Can not thank him enough. He is diffently a "10".

Dr. Cooper was wonderful. From the beginning he was confident, informative and easy to talk to. He addressed all my questions in easy to understands terms without talking down to me.
At first, he seemed a little distant, or preoccupied, but he always showed the willingness to take all the time I needed with him. He is competant and confident and I liked his no nonsense sort
of demeanor. I highly recommend Dr. Cooper. Look for his dry wit and quiet humor behind the no nonsense exterior.
