C. Gary Cooper Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I AM IN LOVE WITH DR. COOPER IN CHICO. HE WAS A ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS. I WOULD RECOMEND HIM TO EVERYONE.
DIANE IN THE FRONT OFFICE IS JUST A GREAT. SHE REALLY HELPED ME WITH INSURANCE QUESTIONS AND GETTING AN APPROVAL. I WAS REALLY HAPPY WITH ALL ASPECTS OF TREATMENT THAT I RECIEVED BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER MY SURGERY. I WOULD RATE DR. COOPER AND DIANE A 11 IN BY BOOK.

I liked him first interview. He is very direct and to the point. He lays it all out so that is is very understandable.
Took From May 2001 til October before I was cleared by my insurance company. I scheduled the surgery for January 2002 as this
was the best time for me to take time off work. The Surgery was a breeze and I have done very well. This is my 8th day.
Diane of Dr. Coopers office is terrific. She was a great help with the insurance problem.

I had my first visit with Dr. Cooper. Just as I was warned, his personality is very dry. My PCP advised that he is an excellent surgeon. I have opted to seek another surgeon, based on Dr. Cooper's lack of laproscopic technique. He still preforms the method of cutting down the middle. Not for me! I am changing to Dr. Patching in Sacramento.

I found Dr Cooper to be bery reasuring, He us a very likable person and very, very helpful un that he wil take the time to answer ALL questions thoroughly. Diane, his office manager was absolutely fantastic. She keeps that office running like a top. Wonderfully jelpful with anything I have ever had to ask her about.
I had my surgery with Dr. Cooper at Enloe Hospital in Chico on 12-5-01.
He was very careful to go over all the risks beforehand and made sure I was aware of what all would be taking place. He gave me several booklets to bring home and emphazised the use of the information in them for future eating and success. I rate Dr. Cooper VERY high. I have an appt for a follow up on Jan. 2, 2002, His aftercare program as far as regular visits for post ops has not been made clear to me as yet, but since he is so far away, I won't be runnng in every week anyway unless it is an emergency.

I cried when I made my first appointment and even today can still draw up that feeling of maybe this time this would be my answer to be free of the fat...Diane (the nurse/office person) is the greatest and was very comforting that first phone call. I adore her.
Dr. Cooper has steel blue eyes and after going through what for some of us is a long diet history and medical history, he sat as close to me as he could get, and looked deep into my eyes and said, "If you do everything I tell you to do, when I tell you to do it, you will Never BE FAT AGAIN!" I cried and promised I would...I didn't do everything right, but the wt is off, I have learned how to keep it off and He was right I will never be fat again...I know that now and the freedom that i feel is amazing...I have a life and a chance to really be all that I can be...I will complete graduate school in the next few months and have continued to work full time while accomplishing this goal.
I thank God everyday for giving me Dr. Cooper, he has been my blessing

dr cooper seemed uncaring at first but he did give plenty of information.at my pre op appt he showed a bit more personality and i decided i liked him ok.i went with him because of his experience and now at 2 wks post op i'm glad i chose him.he is very much all business and insists on following the diet plan exactly.the surgery went well and i had no problems, the incision is even very nicely done, i think i'll have minimal scarring. dr cooper does'nt emphasize aftercare but diane tries hard to help with any questions.dr cooper also was very upfront about the risks of the surgery although he did'nt address the difficulties i could expect from the changes that came afterwards, such as emotionally and physcologically.i would refer other patients to him though.

I thought he was very informative and to the point. Asked me all kinds of questions about my weight over the years. Problems I have had with the weight and such. He can be funny, but I think you have to bring that out of him,and I did. Dianne in the office is really great and also very informative. I didn't like the way he took out my NG tube, but i guess it was for the best, happened sooo fast, didn't really know what hit me. Just linda scared me never having one before! HE REALLY STRESSES THE DIET AFTERCARE....GOES OVER AND OVER IT AND HAD A GAL COME TALK TO ME IN THE HOSPITAL ALSO, TO MAKE SURE I UNDERSTOOD. He addressed everything I wanted and more. Very concerned if you have questions or comments. If I had to do this again I would chose Dr. Cooper, he has been doing this kinda of surgery for a long time and very knowledgable.

dr. cooper was very nice. he told me the surgery alone wouldn't do the work for me. he said do it 100% or don't do it at all.i loved his all or nothing attitude and still do. his wonderful offuce staff of one, diane, is great.he gives this great little "how to after surgery" book that if you follow you'll be fine.his after care to me seemed geared toward the information i already new. he infasized exercise, exercise, exercise!!!!when he explained the risks of surgery to me, he was very thorough. it almost was graffic and discouraging. but at the end of his explanation he looked at and said "if you want to do this we'll do it toghether." then he smiled.he was very blunt and very matter of fact. I wouldn't have chose any other doctor.

dr. cooper and his nurse diane were great. he was very thorough with what i could expect post operative. the surgery went like clock work. i went in on april 4, 2001 and was released from the hospital sunday. he was always availible for any questions i had or concerns after i came home from hospital. i checked into many different surgeons and dr. cooper stood out among all of them. it has sense been 6 months since my surgery and i have lost 100lbs. i no longer suffer from sleep apnea and have since been taken off high blood pressure medication. i will always be greatful to dr. cooper and diane for giving me my life back.
