Well I had my first consultation with Dr. Mitchell in March of 2001. I could not believe how nice and genuine he really is. Everyone that has been to him have all said the same thing. He is very thorough and actually takes the time to answer all of your questions. I have always been very uneasy talking about my weight to a Dr. due to a bad experience long ago, and Dr. Mitchell is a young, fit, and very nice looking Dr., so I expected him to probable look down his nose at me (the fat slob I had become). That never happened!!!!!!! Both he and his staff have been wonderful. His PA's Jim and Allen are great and Shirley is always just as sweet and understanding as anyone could possibly want.
He is very interested in you being successful in your journey so he does follow up very closely with his patience and when he or Shirley (his nurse) see you going down the wrong road they do their best to re-direct you. I would highly recommend Dr. Mitchell and his staff to anyone in the area.

My wife has already had the surgery, and Dr. Mitchell was great. I guess, I had my doubts about the surgery, in general at first, but after talking with Dr. Mitchell during my wife's visits, I began to feel as though he (Dr. Mitchell) really cared about his patients and their outcome. He has a general likeness of a big brother. His office staff are outstanding and very helpful. Honestly, I have not found one single thing negative about him or his staff. If you are thinking about having this surgery, please consider Dr. Mitchell as your surgeon. He not only has a special information meeting with those seeking this surgery, but he has prepared a very informative Powerpoint presentation about the in's and out's of the surgery. This also covers aftercare and the aftercare program. I would rate Dr. Mitchell, his staff and Moore Regional Hospital as exceptional! Since I have not yet had the surgery, I can not personally comment about my own experience, however, he was outstanding with my wife.

UPDATE: I had the surgery, had a few problems, but all in all, my surgery was a complete success. Dr. Mitchell and his staff are wonderful!!!

I met Dr. Mitchell for the first time about two weeks ago at the information seminar the office had about the surgery. I felt as if I had known him my entire life after just two hours. The staff was so polite and informed. He made sure that everyone knew that the surgery was a lifetime commitment and not something to be entered into lightly. While i haven't had my surgery yet, I was immediately called for my apointment and was told that it would be an afternoon affair because they like to spend several hours with the patient the first one-on-one visit. I was very impressed.

January 13,2001-- I finally have a surgery date! Doc Mitchell must have known how ready I was for this because he got me in less than 3 weeks after my approval. His entire staff has been amazing. Donna and Shirley are absolute angels who really want to see their patients succeed. I honestly do not have one single fear about my procedure because Doctor Mitchell and his staff have earned every confidence. I feel I owe them my life.
February 1,2001--I am now 11 days post-op and cannot believe that it has actually happened. Things could not have possoble gone better. I was in the hospital for 5 days, and the staff at Moore Regional Hospital was unbelievable. They took fabulous care of me. And I cannot say enough about Doctor Mitchell. He was great through the whole procedure and seemed genuinely concerned for me. I got my staples out today and it feels much better. I didn't realize that they would make me so uncomfortable, but they did. I have been able to do well with my Ensure plus and at 11 days post-op have lost 24 1/2 pounds!! I can't wait for the next few months!!
June 9, 2001--I just wanted to sing Doc Mitchell's praises yet again. I positively love this man. He has given me the most amazing gift I've ever recieved (except my gorgeous daughter!!). He is without question the most dedicated Doctor I've ever met with and every time I visit him, I feel like I'm the only patient he has. I adore him and would encourage ANYONE in the North Carolina area to consult him. You will be getting the best there is.

My first impression of Dr.Mitchell was how young he appeared. I still think he looks very young, but I know how capable he is.
The office staff is fantastic so far.
I haven't found anything yet that I don't like about Dr. Mitchell.
I will be able to more honestly answer these questions after my appt. on 1-3-2001.
He is very thorough and doesn't let you rush into anything. He leaves no avenue uncovered.

Dr. Mitchell is one of the most careing Dr.'s I have met in a while. He is very through in his exams and and makes sure you have seen all the Doctors such as cardilogist, for us girls the gyn, a physic, I trust this man with my life and I dont do that with many Dr.'s these days. He laid everything out on the table no hideing things. He looks kinda young lol but he is a sweetheart and am glad I chose him ... Good luck all ....I have nothing Bad to say about him or his Staff.... JUst be in for a wait at times.. be Patient its worth it...I am Post op now ... You want a Dr. and Staff that is concerned with your welfare see Dr. Mitchell he is THE best Dr. I have ever met his staff is well lets just say there are angels among us ....I would rate Dr. Mitchell and his staff 100,000,000%

THERE WAS NOT ONE THING I COULD SAY THAT WAS NEGATIVE ABOUT DR.MITCHELL..HE WAS VERY STRIGHT FORWARD AND INFORMATIVE ABOUT EVERYTHING. HE DID NOT CANDY COAT ANYTHING AND HE TOLD YOU ALL THE WHAT IFS AND DON'T S AND CAN'TS AND WHYS, LEAVING NOTHING UNTOLD..BUT HE WAS VERY KIND AND UNDERSTANDING AND HE HAS A LOVE FOR OBESE PEOPLE AND YOU COULD JUST TELL HE REALLY WANTS TO HELP AND IS NOT JUST IN IT FOR THE MONEY. HE AND HIS STAFF WILL TURN EVERY CORNER TO HELP GET YOUR INS. APPROVED AND ANY THING ELES THEY CAN DO TO HELP. BUT HE DOSE MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THIS IS A LIFETIME CHANGE AND HE EXPECTS YOU TO KEEP YOUR APPT. WITH HIM SO HE CAN KEEP CHECK ON YOU AFTER SURGERY..THATS VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM. HE TAKESYOU THROUGH EVERY TEST KNOWN TO MAN TO MAKE SURE YOUR SAFE TO DO THIS SURGERY.

My surgeon is Dr. Charles K. Mitchell, Jr. MD. He does the Greenville technique, which is taugh at ECU medical school. Dr. Mitchell has worked hard with me, trying to get the HMO to OK this surgery. He has written letter after Letter to them, gone to their meetings, asked them what would it take to get them to cover this surgery. Dr. Mitchell is a very nice and is easy to talk to, he takes time to hear you out and answer any questions or concerns you may have. His office staff and nursing staff is always ready to work with you.
