The first time I saw Dr. Mitchell was at a " information session" that was opened to the public back in August 01. Dr. Mitchell seems to be a sweet and caring doctor. He took time out to answer my questions and gave me a few minutes to make sure that I didn't have anymore to ask. Everyone that I have questioned about Dr. Mitchell has said nothing but good things about him. So I feel secure that my first impression of the "doc" was right. I'm not saying that Dr. Mitchell is all perfect either, I'm just saying that he is a caring doctor.(We need more like him)
And may I add, pleasing to the eyes.

Dr. Mitchell is very kind and sympathetic to the problem of obesity. He is a busy man. Getting appointments is difficult.I have so much respect for him because he is trying to help people who are trying to help themselves. I was leary at first because he graduated med school in 1999. The surgeon with whom he trained is also an extraordinary man. His secretary, Donna Kirk is wonderful. She tries to help any way she can. You have to be persisent and be patient with the process. It is a difficult journey from research to surgery. Pray and ask others to pray for you. I cried a lot when I couldn't get this done over Easter. It was supposed to be during Spring break since I teach. The insurance held me up. The day I recieved my approval, I was overjoyed with tears, relief and happiness. They stress exercise and following the meal plan. I joined a gym 3 months ago to get in shape. Dr.Mitchell wants you walking a mile within a month. I can do that now in 15 minutes. He is very thourough on the risks. Leakage is the biggest concern. But eating small amounts and following his rules will reduce my chances. On a scale of 1 to 10, he is a 12!

I love my surgeon. Dr. Mitchell makes you feel special from the "get go!" He is completely thorough in his pre and post op evaluation. He is extremely knowledgable and skilled as a bariatric surgeon. He is honest and upfront. He doesn't hide anything. I highly recommend Dr. Mitchell!!!!

He is assisted by one other surgeon and three P.A's in his practice. They are all wonderfull and are always available to answer any question you have. To date, when I call I speak to someone. They don't have to call me back. The only incident I experienced was that I called to tell his PA that I suspected that I had thrush. He pretty much dismissed this possibility, however, when Dr. Mitchell prescribed something for thrush, I was no longer had the symptoms after taking the meds.

His office staff are wonderfull as well. His secretary Donna handles all the insurance info. She has an awful lot on her plate, but if you give her time she will complete what is necessary. She really could use a lot more help since his practice is expanding.

I haven't found anything yet that I do not like about Dr. Mitchell. He has kept in close contact with my own physician as to my progress.

He has a great aftercare program. He requires office visit follow-up and for you to attend monthly support group meetings. He encourages his patients to come to his quarterly meetings he has with potential new patients. In fact, while I was in the hospital, he held one of his meetings and he asked me if I wanted to be wheeled down to the meeting to answer questions. I was most eager to speak on his behalf.

Dr. Mitchell is up front and honest about possible risks involved with this Major surgery. He does not beat around the bush.

Dr. Mitchell is "top-notch" in my books. He has awesome bed side manners and makes me feel like I am the only patient he has at the moment. He is truly interested in what I have to say and the is always willing to answer any questions that I may have.

Dr. Mitchell is a wonderful compassionate man. His office staff are helpful and professional.
Dr. Mitchell requires a seminar, a psych consult and a dietician.
He is huge into education and after care. He likens the relationship to a marriage because after the surgery, you will be with him for life. Blood tests yearly forever. He makes sure you go into the surgery knowing EXACTLY what will be expected of you afterwards.
His bedside manner is fantastic, he made me feel very comfortable. He is warm and has a very good sense of humor.
I would reccommend him to anyone in the pinehurst region who wanted surgery, general or bariatric.

I really felt at ease with him but I thought he looked like a high school student.
I still feel at ease with him and I know he is very good.
His staff is knows what they are doing.
His office
I'll tell you more after my surgery is over.
When I talked with him he said I would have to make up my mind that we would be "married" so to speak for many years. His aftercare is all planned out.
When telling me about the surgery, I felt he covered all aspects very thoroughly.
Overall I think he is great.
I can tell more on the 5th about his surgical competence and bedside manner.

I felt he was very young and probably inexperienced

After listening to him in an information session, I found him to be very competent and cautious to the things that can go wrong.

Warm, caring, personable staff
At this early stage, I can't think of anything that made me think twice about this decision
That they will be in good hands with this caring man
Very much in the information session
Support group and office visit check-ins

Absolutely

Again , at this point, I feel very fortunate to have found him

Dr. Mitchell is the greatest. My first impression of him was WOW! he is so young. But over the months that I got to know him, he might be young, but he really knows what he is doing. He is also very caring. he cares about his patients very much. If you have anything you are worried about or wondering about, ask him, he will always be there for you. As far as the surgery, I remeber going into the hospital and saw him and told him I was nervous. His reply was, "There's nothing to be nervous about, in a little while you'll be out and fine." He tries to calm your fears and keep you excited about the procedure. I think he honestly loves his job and that makes it great. He has a very strict aftercare program, and you really should follow it to the T, because otherwise, why have the surgery. Anyways, while in the hospital, he came and saw me everyday, except New Years Day, and answered any question and wil tell you to call him if you forget something. He will always either talk to you or call you back, none of this waiting for hours to get a call back. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Mitchell for this surgery.

Dr. Mitchell is the kindest, most compassionate, talented, loving, man I have ever met. Next to my dad of course.

The staff is just as friendly as he.

If I had to recommend a staff and a doctor he would be it.
