Dr. Ward made me feel very comfortable from the beginning. He has a great deal of empathy for the patients he works with. The team is great as well. The subject of weight is a very personal and sometimes embarrassing topic and they make you feel very comforatble with your youself and your questions (as many as you may have or as elementary as they may sound.) Going through this process is quite difficult, but these people are truly there to help you so do not be afraid to move forward with them. The aftercare program is very structured, offering post op support through weekly groups, aftercare appointments, and therapy appointments if you want them. The risks are explained in detail along with the procedure itself. So far I am very comforatble and would consider him to be fabulous.

I attended a seminar ran by dr. Ward and Dr.Mclean .They were very thorough and i left there feeling very confident about the surgery and the competency of these doctors. I had a meeting wuth Dr. Ward and he explained insurance requirments to me and guidlines needed to proceed. he is a very friendy compassionate person. kate is wonderful and very helpful makes you feel as though you have known here forever (she is the bariatric coordinater.

I was impressed. Dr Ward seemed patient and nice to deal with, taking the time to explain everything in detail. There was no feeling of being rushed like I have felt with others in the medical profession. I walked away feeling knowledgable and assured about my choice to go through with this. His office staff was likewise easy to deal with. All that I needed to do was spelled out plainly and if anything, I am more eager to go through with this now then I was before. I have complete faith in Dr Ward, and have no problems putting my life in his hands..which in my opinion..is how you should feel about a surgeon.

My first impression of Dr.Ward was kind of lukewarm, but then at our first official consult, he was so engaging towards my 5 year old. That was definitely a plus. The office staff at the main office is nice at best, I've never met anyone personally but they are very professional and efficient over the telephone. Kate in Somerville, is cool, but she tends to rush you at times, no biggie, I guess she's just a busy person. Most of my information about barriatric surgery has come through Kate, and I'll lovve her forever for that, she's the true real deal, because not only is she a nurse coordinator, she's a former patient. Dr. Ward was always available to answer any questions that arose due to my own research. Overall he gets a 7, and we'll revealuate after he cuts me. (May the Lord Bless him!)

I had a rather disappointing meeting with Dr. Brolin several years ago that soured me on this whole surgery(I wouldn't have let that man near me with a 10ft pole!). I decided to pursue this surgery again, but this time with a LOT more research. From my research I've heard very good things about Dr. Ward and his support group. Well, they were absolutely correct. He's very friendly. He's confident in his skill as a surgeon, which he has every right to be since his mortality and complication rates are so low, but he didn't downgrade the importance of knowing the possible complications and risks. He even went over the things he does to try to avoid those risks and complications. He's easy to talk to and answered all of my questions. He even drew me pictures when the medical terms seemed like spanish to me. I'd honestly give him a 15 out of 10. I feel very confident with having him do my surgery, and I only accept the best!!! I had no problem getting an appointment with him, and he was waiting for me while I filled out my paperwork. I have not talked to his staff in Morristown, but Kate@SMC(she created and runs Bariatric Angels, his support group) is amazing, she's had the surgery herself, so she's full of tips and advice. She really takes the other patients under her wing. She gave me names and places to go for the protein and I can't wait to meet with her and the rest of the Angels once I'm on the losing side. Their support group sounds large and tight-knit.

Prior to surgery and immediately after post op he was 'Great', explained things completely, really supportive. Now 2 years later I have gained a few pounds and he is no longer covered under my health insurance so I have pay out of pocket. My last annual appointment was basically a waste of time. He looked at my blood results wanted to refer me to a Dietary Dr and referred me to a plastic surgeon, both of which are located in North Jersey over 50 miles away and neither of them are covered by my insurance. He wasn't willing to work with me in finding someone within my insurance and this is a problem I need to rely on my health insurance, thats why I have it.

From the moment I met him, I found him to be very sensitive. He didn't flinch at my size, or talk down to me. He was very respectful and I appreciated that.
I first met Dr. Ward a year and a half ago. A colleague had him perform her surgery and she raved about him.
Anyway, after having gone through hoops (as many of us have), I finally got the okay for the surgery.
His office staff is helpful. Marilyn in his Morristown office gave me the good news and she was as thrilled as I was. I have felt nothing less than support from them.
I am going to a session on eating tonight. I am pretty sure the focus will be on what to expect and how to eat for success.
The office has support group meetings and an assistant at the Somerville office (Kate) who stays on top of things.
I am aware of the risks of the surgery and am going to get my living will in order, just in case. It is critical surgery and I don't want to minimize the risks, but I know that everything will be fine.
So far, Dr. Ward is a winner...hope to say that in a few weeks!

DR. Ward seemed very caring about his aptients and he seems like he likes what he does and that is great. I feel totally comfortable with him and my choice of doctors.
He just seems to always be there for you
Very efficent and nice. Never had a problem with anyone in the office.
There is nothing I dislike about Dr. Ward.
