Farouck Obeid Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I just love my surgeon. (Dr. Obied) He was so nice and caring I would definatly refer any one to him. His office is in Flint MI very nice very clean. The staff at the clinic is the best group of people I have ever met. Future patients will love him he is very nice. He told me all the risks of my surgery it scared me a little when he mentioned I could die. I promised him I would do my best if he did his best. We laughed at that but he said he would do everything in his power to make my surgery a positive experience. On a scale from one to ten ten being the highest I would rate him a 11. I think in this line of surgery you have to have both, surgical competence adn bedside manner because after surgery you are in alot of pain and need the encouraging words. The only negative experience I had with my surgery was a very mean nurse,(she wasn't one of the regular nurses for the bariatric floor) and my doctor got rid of her the very same day.

Dr. Obeid was great in addressing most of my concerns before I even asked the questions.

'First impression of Doc

i had my surgery on may 17th 2004. i thought my life was over. Doc obeid saved my life. i from day one of meeting him was very imoressed. he explained just how it was. a tool and nothing eles. i am just sorry i waited 4 years to have it done. my hospital stay was
very good and the staff i can't say enough about . there on the spot 24 /7. i tell everyone they need to go to hurley snd to have Doc obeid. at the time i had surgery he told me i was the biggest body mass person he had done. thank you Doc obeid for giving me a second chance.

Very caring Doctor. Let me know that he would take care of me like I was his own daughter. I felt comfortable talking to him. And he knows his stuff. I know that he will take care of me during my surgical procedure.

When I went in for my consultation at the Hurley Bariatric Center (at the time Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss) I had no idea what to expect. When I met Dr. Obeid and he talked about the surgery, complications and his success rate, I felt a sense of calm. Then when he said that his gift came from God, that sealed the deal for me. I knew that he was the man to do my surgery. I can say that I have NEVER regreted having the surgery and that Dr. Obeid has been the best support. Every time I have seen him, he has always been very supportive and told me how well I was doing and I know that he meant it, that is the best part.

The only thing that happened that upset me was when my incision opened and I had to have it packed daily for about 1 1/2 months. But even that, in the end, was worth it.

I can never say enough about Dr. Obeid or the Hurley Bariatric Center...Thank God for both..

I changed surgeons about 1 month before surgery. I am so so happy with Dr Obeid He is Wonderful!!! Such a personal and caring man. He will tell you he's not in this for the money, its about helping people to him and he has proved that to me a few times since my surgery. I am truely blessed to have such a great and caring Doctor. Not only is he caring and kind he is a very competent surgeon he is the head of the Trauma Dept at Hurley. He has a 0 mortality rate! The program for aftercare is awsome at Hurley. If you call the office there is always someone available to answer questions ( Dietician, nurse,)(during office hours) they have a great support group available and The staff at the clinic is great! the only thing I didnt like was that they give you a book but it only goes so far than you get updates as you go to your appointments. I wanted something to look forward to at the beginning it was very hard. all the changes. I wanted to know what to expect next. these were all Dietician concerns not surgical.

2005 - Revision
Dr. Obeid is right to the point, serious yet very caring. I met him when he operated on my older sister. The one comment that really stuck with me, was that he always prays before surgery. That told me I had just met a great surgeon! I know that my procedure is going to be very complicated and very risky, but I also know that if Dr Obeid didn't feel comfortable with his knowledge and skill, he wouldn't even attempt it. I feel whatever happens, he will have done his very best!

The surgery went well. Of course, his skills allowed him to do a wonderful job. He IS "the best of the best". He has been there for me, every step of the way following surgery. Every concern I've had, he has addressed promptly and helped me through it. He is a God send!

When I first met Dr. Obeid, I was very nervous and I wanted to leave but as I began to read the newsletter and talk with other patients that had already had the surgery, I stayed and spoke with Dr. Obeid and I'm so very glad I did. The entire staff was so professional and sweet. Dr. Obeid & his staff answered all my questions and they made sure that my family & I had all the contact information that we needed before we left the office. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Obeid & staff to everyone I know. I will forever pray for Dr. Obeid & his wounderful staff. From the first day that I walked into Dr. Obeid's offce, even throughout my hospital stay and post-op care everything has been GREAT!

My husband and I first met with Dr. Obeid at my consultation. We found him to be very personable, humerous and very informative. He is also a Christian. He mentioned that he prays before each surgery and he will pray with the patient if they would like him to. His staff was very curtious. I don't believe there was anything I did not like about him. It was a very informative day. He strongly expressed the importance of my aftercare. In the afternoon there was a group session. This is where Dr. Obeid went into great detail about the surgery. Everyone was welcome to ask questions. This was kind of nice because you hear more questions being asked than at a one on one session. I would have to rate Dr. Obeid so far in my process as a "10". He is definately the Doctor for me!
