I have been extremely impressed with Dr. Woodman and his staff. They have gone above and beyond to answer my questions both prior to and since my surgery. Gina is the type of nurse whom we all want simply because of her compassion and empathy. Kelly keeps things running smoothly. Dr. Woodman is very genuine in how much he cares about his patients. He never made me feel rushed and has taken much time to answer my questions. I checked with many local folks in the medical industry and his reputation is solid both in skill, compassion and professionalism. I highly recommend Mid South Bariatrics to anyone considering WLS.

Dr. George Woodman (Memphis) is my angel! He is a brilliant, brillant surgeon and so caring. When first meeting him, I was a little unsure... he was very businesslike and professional. The second time I saw him, he seemed a little looser and now I just adore him! He has a dry wit that I appreciate and is the sweetest guy. He is totally caring and takes a lot of his personal time to follow up. That's almost unheard of these days, especially with a surgery schedule like Dr. Woodman has. I liked him so much prior to my surgery, but he really endeared himself to me the day of the surgery. He told me before surgery that he would be sure to check on me before he left the hospital that day. That evening, I still hadn't seen him and was feeling a little dejected. Later that night, after 9:00pm as I recall, he showed up... still in his scrubs. He had been in surgery since around 6:00 that morning and had to be exhausted. But he promised me he would check on me and he did. He hasn't stopped checking on my progess since. I also checked Dr. Woodman out thoroughly before scheduling an initial consult with him. I have several friends who are physicians/surgeons, and every single one of them reccommended him highly. His staff is great and also very caring and eager to help. All I would tell future patients is that Dr. Woodman and his entire staff can be trusted. They're great people. One of the things I really liked about Dr. Woodman is that he gets the big picture. He is extremely concerned with aftercare and provides a clinical nutritionist and psych on staff. That says a lot. As I said earlier, he is an extremely well-respected and brilliant surgeon. Regarding surgical competence... you couldn't be in better hands. And bedside manner.... LOVE THAT MAN!!!

Dr. Woodman seems to be a very caring man and I have confidence in his ability as a surgeon.

Unfortunately, Dr. Woodman has had difficulty in getting lap RNY approved at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN (Dr.. However, he has had lap-banding approved and he can still perform open RNY. I have opted for the open RNY even though my preference was for the lap RNY. After much soul searching, I decided tht the RNY was what was important to me and is what I need to be successful.

My surgery was originally approved with Dr. Hiler and since I switched surgeons, I now have to wait for a new approval and a new surgery date.
