Henry Pearce Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

My first impression with Dr. Pearce was positive. Although I had already done my homework he asked me several times if I had any questions. His office staff were professional and cordial. He fully explained what to expect for the first year in terms of eating. Also he went over the different kinds of WLS and why he does the Roux en Y. He has a sterling record concerning his surgical competence. All in all I'm pleased.
10/23/00--Darrel (the insurance guy) was great! I didn't have to do a thing. I was approved within 2 weeks and am going to have surgery either the 13th or 14th of December. If anyone out there has already had surgery performed by Dr. Pearce, please give us some feedback.
12/18/00--I am still very impressed with the competence of my surgeon. He visited me every day and has a great bedside manner. A minor issue - I wish he would be more specific about the type and amount of food I should eat.

He is great. Doesn't mess around with unsure people. He was very understanding and straight forward on what to expect and the changes that would happen in my life. He spent an hour and half with me on the first visit just answering questions and making sure I understood all this involves. His insurance person Darrel is the best. Always ready to help and do what he can and really knowledgeable about his job and insurance. Dr. Pearce gives the impression of total confidence and yet a warmth that you need at this time. He has the ability to hold peoples' lives in his hands and doesn't take it lightly.

*12/11/00* I met with him today for the first time. He is the nicest and sweetest doctor I have ever met. He answered every question I had and I never felt rushed with him like other doctors. He explained everthing to me, like what would happen pre-op and post-op and long term. He also told me stories about several of his other patients and what happened with their surgeries. He sat with me for about an hour explaining everything. He told me what the insurance company likes to have for their criteria and I already had it all together and printed out, so I just gave them copies to include in my referral.I will write more when I hear back from them.

I have my first consult with Dr. Pearce on September 13, 2000. I have had to deal with Darrell on a number of occasions and let me tell you, he is wonderful. He is always there to answer questions and never to busy to help you.

Met with surgeon today. I really did like him. He was very pleasent. I was a wreck when I went in there and it was easier than I thought it would be. He explained everything in great detail. He thinks I will do well. The man definately knows what he is doing. He has been doing these surgeries for 30 years!!! I was really impressed. And as always, Darrel is the best!! I have never met a more compassionate man. He is really good at what he does. I know he just takes care of the insurance stuff, he is just soooo easy to work with.

I had my 5 wk check up with Dr. Pearce. He has a really good post-op care with his patients. His office is wonderfully helpful to me. He makes sure that we feel well and are eating well. He also gives us monthly b-12 shots. He is wonderful, what can I say!!!

10/04/00: I have a consultation with
Dr. Pearce on 10/18/00. I am very excited
about meeting with him and hope that he is
able to help me. They are following the
progress of a WLS patient on the OKC news.
I have been told that Dr. Pearce did her
surgery. I would love to hear from anyone
who has had experience with this surgeon.
The procedure I want is the Roux en-Y (RNY)
Gastric Bypass. Does anyone know if he
does this procedure. If he doesn't, what
type of WLS does he perform? Lynn
10/19/00: I had my first consulation with Dr. Pearce yesterday. I was very favorably impressed. He performs the Roux en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery only. Fortunately, this was the procedure I wanted. He spent plenty of time explaining the procedure and aftercare. He answered all the questions I had about the surgery. My sister went to the appointment with me and he let her sit in on the consultation. He willingly answered her questions also. I feel very confident about Dr. Pearce and am glad he will be my surgeon.
10/30/00: Just got off the phone with Dr. Pearce's insurance clerk Darrell. IT IS OFFICIAL - - I AM SCHEDULED FOR 17 NOV 00 at 9:30. YEAH!! Darell is the best!!
11/23/00: 6 days post op and doing great. If you are looking for an experienced open RNY doctor, I highly recommend this surgeon. I hope I don't need any further surgery, but I would not hesitate to use this surgeon again ... and not just for WLS.

when i first called to get information about the type of procedur he does i was welcomed with open arms i had all of my questions answered they explained how they process the insurance and that the only thing i need to worry about is me and getting my papers together for medical history. THey were great i had originally chosen a diff doctor i had chosen dr mason jett out of okc but i found that the only procedure Jett does is the vbg and i wanted RNY so my search continued after i meet him i will update more

I met with Dr. Pearce on the 9th of Oct. He was very pleasant and it seemed he wanted to help me. I am now waiting for his letter of approval to be received by the insurance company. All I am doing now is waiting for his phone call.
His nurse Stacy is a sweetheart.
Dr. Pearce has a good follow-up program. He keeps track of you for at least a year. Or until you get close to your goal.
