Henry Pearce Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Pearce seems to be an excellent surgeon I attended a seminar in lieu of a personal appt with him...he doesn't flower up anything, he tells you the good with the bad and gives complete and thorough answers to everything. At his seminars it appeared to me that his entire staff was at hand to help and answer any other questions that may come up also...He mixed and mingled with all the patients afterwards also. He listened to them, he laughed with them and he was very personable. I complimented him on his staff and his facilty at the seminar and was amazed on other drop in visits they always remembered my name. He emphasized both pre-op and post-op care and stressed the importance of vitamins and minerals and also exercise...As for surgical competence and bedside manner...YOU GET IT ALL with Dr. Pearce!!! If all doctors in every field followed his role model they would never have to worry about having patients. He is one in a million, when asked by his receptionist if I felt I needed to discuss anything with him or talk to him before the surgery I said No...He and his staff said it all at the seminar, who could ask for more? He also said he would prefer to have a patient continue to see him for at min of a year, if they live close by and convenient...and if not then at our discretion..but he left that open to us. It told us, I felt, that he cares about our results and our health not just the money end of things. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about him or his staff.

I saw Dr. Gorospe in Tulsa initially before discovering that Dr. Pearce in Edmond does the RNY... Dr. Pearce is an older gray haired gentleman who I immediately felt at ease with. Answered all my questions at length in his gorgeous Edmond office and I left there feeling totally confident in his credentials, ability and his bedside manner.

Dr. Henry Pearce is a genuine man that is honest and upfront when he talks about the WLS he performs. He (as of yesterday 01/31/01) started an information seminar where you may learn about how he performs the surgery/risks/what to eat/etc....His staff is there to also answer any questions, and the insurance contact answers any questions you may have about approvals/denials. While I was filling out paperwork, Dr. Pearce casually chatted with my mother until I was finished, where most surgeons would have left and not hung around until everyone was finished. He did not make you feel "rushed" to get out of his office as other doctors I have had dealings with. Dr. Pearce ROCKS! He is very concerned with his patients safety and health. He also had a few patients come to the seminar to talk about their experience.

Well I guess my first impression was he is a very busy important man. I was rescheduled three times at first and I thought wow he must be great to be in such demand. I was right. When I finally did get in to see him, he spent a lot of time with me. Very down to earth, not hurried. I had many questions and he took time to answer each one. I have great confidence in him and his office staff. I would recommend Dr. Henry Pearce. He has done over 2000 surguries over the past 26 years and has had a great success rate.

My first impression with Dr Pearce was wonderful
I am a nurse and have worked with many medical
professionals, he has so much concern and
compassion and will set and listen to you
and take time to be a wonderful surgeon. Even
people who visited me and my family said that
he was extra special. The office staff was
just as wonderful. They made me feel like
a part of their family. There was nothing that
I can say bad, and for me being a nurse, I'm
very hard to please. I just went for my 1 week
post-op visit and Dr Pearce really sit down
and we talked about exercise, food, and just
things about me. I am so glad that I selected
Dr. Pearce, I have researched this surgery
from having it done in Florida, Kentucky, and
yes even Switzerland. I could not have ever
picked a better physician and staff and also
hospital (Edmond Medical Center).

HE is a great person and very knowledgable about the procedure. Any doubts I ever had about the procedure he answered and also made my husband feel better about the whole expierence.
The office staff everyone of them were wonderful, they knew why we were there and handled everything proffessionally and friendly.
Dr. Pearce was straight forward about the risks of surgery and that is was going to be a long road and if we weren't ready then to take our time to think about it. He said it was never to late to back out.
He took us through all the first procedures of this surgery up to the modern techniques.
I would give him and the staff a definite 10

Dr. Henry Pearce is the surgeon I have chosen. I have only had one visit with him which was my consult. I felt very comfortable with him. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone in Oklahoma looking for RNY. He only does the procedure open. He has been doing WLS for about 30 years, so he has seen what works & what doesn't. He has also seen all of the problems with the previous surgeries that have been performed. Also, he has a wonderful employee named Darrel that deals with the insurance approval. He handled it all, I didn't have to do anything.

Jan 25, 2001 I have a consultation with Dr. Pearce in Edmond, OK on Febr 20th. I was going to go to Dr. Hanan in OKC but he was entirely booked up for the year! I asked how many surgeries he does a week and the lady said 3 or 4 a week. I think all he does is the VBG...so I am really glad I will be going to Dr. Pearce because I have my heart set on having the RNY. I am hoping I won't have any trouble getting my insurance to approve the surgery. I will post again after I talk with Dr. Pearce.

He was very friendly, and introduced himself by simply "Henry" or "Hank". Never experienced that with a doctor before. The office staff was wonderful. They made me feel important every time I called. I have researched (extensively) Dr. Pearce's background and have found his record to be highly commendable. I've been told he is the best and that he is very thorough. A local newstation covered my story, and my doctor was very open with sharing with the news crew. I do feel that he could have a more detailed nutrition plan, but there is nothing else I could complain about!
