Hosein Yasrebi Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

He is a character! He is very knowledgable in this field. Has been performing bariatric surgeries for 26 years. Over 1200 surgeries, never lost a patient. Provided more than enough info regarding procedure, his history, and about steps that we must take depending on insurance coverage to be approved. Aftercare was discussed in regards to nutrition and support. Of course there is risk in any surgery but I feel comfortable w/ his expertise. I am exited to take this journey w/ him.

I was a little reserved. I had heard nothing but good things about him and I thought how could a surgeon be so good and caring. I have had 5 different types of surgeries and no surgeon had a reputation like him. My reserve feeling quickly changed as I started to see him every 3 weeks for my weigh in. Dr Yasrebi wanted me to be in the best health as possible. After surgery (April 11th 2006) he was the 1st face I seem in recovery and for two solid weeks he called me EVERY NIGHT regardless of the week-end and Easter (he went out of town and still called me) to see how I was doing. He is the most caring surgery I have ever met. After surgery I seem him every week and now it is every 2 weeks. He was and is strict regarding post op preparation. But he does it for YOUR good. I would recommend him to anyone wanting surgery in the Jacksonville Florida area. He is the best.

I already had heard of Doc.Yasrebi's reputation and seen his work first hand, I went to his support meeting which is once a month,he had a couple of people give there testimonies and then he spoke I loved his since of humor I laugh easy so I almost couldnt stop I hate when that happens. Then the next day I made my first appointment, which was made for a couple weeks later .He spends a couple of hours with you the first visit . I liked him and felt he was very attentive and very serious about what he expects from you which is 10%of you weight in weight loss and your breathing in a vol-dyne breathing thingy has to be 4000 or more and believe me he does require this of you no playing and at least 30 minutes exersize everyday that is just the preperation and very serious about aftercare too. He definitly gives of his self over and beyond the call of duty.I would not of used any other Docter I would have rather stayed obese .His secretary Michelle is very nice and helpful and his wife comes in sometimes to work and she rates up there with her hubby . Awesome!!!!!

My first impression of my surgeon was he was very serious about his procedures and was only willing to work with individuals who were equally as serious. He is a very caring man. His office was comfortable and his staff was very supportive. He was very attentive while I was in the hospital. He was very unyeilding when it came to my weight loss prior to my surgery date. He was supportive during my aftercare. He answered all my questions. I never felt pushed aside or that I had asked a stupid question. He was strict about the way I incorporated foods back into my diet. I found his support and encouragement very comforting. I love Dr. Yasrebi. He was a blessing to me. He went over the risks and all prior to my first office visit and again in more detail after attending my first support group meeting. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give him a 10. He is strict but fair as he sets his surgery dates. He was what I needed.

I haven't had any problem with my surgeon, he did a wonderful job on my surgery and what aftercare I've had.. Dr Yasrebi and his office staff are very informed and willing to answer any questions you may have. If you are intrested in possible having Dr Yasrebi as your surgeon just know he is very picky, everything has to be done perfectly, including you pre-op diet. Overall he is great, if I had to go back and choose a surgeon again I would choose him.

I have not yet met with Dr. Yasrebi, I'm hoping to in Jan. 2005
1/13/05 I had my official consult with the Dr. today. The appointment was scheduled for 2 hours and it took the full 2 hours. He was very nice and personable to both myself and my husband (came for moral support). He took his time with me capturing all my co-morbidities, my family history, diet history, what my typical day looks like. He also gave me a full exam, did an ekg and took my blood. I didn't even feel the prick of the needle. I have been researching this surgery and the Dr's thatare both within and out of my area. I without a doubt have found the best surgeon for me. Michelle, his assistance is extremely nice and helpful as well. My next appointment is 2/3/05.

First Impression: I heard from others he was very strict so I was petrified of him in the beginning
Over Time: Came to realize he is strict about you losing weight before surgery but it's for your own good and that he has a great sense of humor and is a gentle soul. He's also very meticulous, just the kind of person you'd want to do surgery on you!
Staff: Michelle and Linda are great! Michelle took care of all my paperwork with Aetna, I never had to pick up the phone. Both her and Linda have always been kind and helpful
Liked Least About My Surgeon: Would've really liked to have done LAP vs. open, but am still satisfied
What Should Future Patients Know: Be prepared to lose the weight he asks you to before surgery or he will not operate
Quality of Aftercare: Dr Yasrebi called me every night for the first 10 days after surgery to make sure I was doing ok. How many surgeons do that? Then I had several office visits a few weeks apart and right now I am going every month.
How Was Risks of Surgery Presented: He requires you to attend at least one of his monthly meetings and the risks are addressed there. He also has a "consent" meeting with you and your support person shortly before surgery where he explains the risks and you must sign off that he's explained these to you
Overall Rating of Dr Yasrebi: Excellent, would trust him completely and he's never lost a patient (he's done this over 20 years now with over 1000 patients)
Competence vs. Bedside Manner: I would say competence because you can be the nicest person in the world, but if you botch my surgery, I'm not going to be too happy about it!! :)

I am now 7 weeks post op and just came from Dr. Yasrebi's office. He asked me if I thought I had gone to the right surgeon. I told not thought, but I KNOW I went to the right surgeon. Dr. Yasrebi really is concerned about each and every patient. He may seem like he is full of himself most times, but he has a right. His track record is absolutely excellent. His staff is the best, too. They will help you with the smallest, most insignificant question or request.
Dr. Yasrebi and his staff emphasize a very structured pre-op and aftercare program.
