I have my first meeting with Dr. Yasrebi on July 26, 2000. I'm very nervous and excited!

Dr. Yasrebi is very involved with pre/post op education. He really stresses the education of his patients. He patiently answers all my questions and the ones I forget to ask are easily answered by his assistant, Jill.

Dr. Y has a wonderful sense of humor but doesn't let you forget that this is a major surgery. He is not at all flexible about his "rules". His way or the highway. He has reasons for the rules and is happy to explain them. When he tells you how much weight you have to lose, just do it. He is not going to change his mind - or do the surgery-until you do.

I feel very confident having my sugery with Dr. Yasrebi.

My first impression of Dr. Yasbrebi was that of someone who gets right to the point. He is caring and wants you to succeed. His office assistant Jill has the patience of Job because I think I called her every day until I found out if I was approved or not. She always seems cheerful and willing to answer any question you have. I think that anyone that comes in contact with Dr. Yasrebi or Jill will find them to be caring and helpful individuals. I think Dr. Yasrebi is a competent surgeon and has a great sense of humor. I look forward to having my surgery with him. I have 18 pounds to lose before he'll set my surgery date.....I can do it!!

The first time I talked to Dr. Yasrebi, it was a little strange, he called 9pm on a sunday (???) I wasn't home so I used my caller ID and called him back at his home.
At the time he seemed a little angry at me
he then informed me to check my messages and
I would have play phone tag with him tomorrow
( I thought it must have been real important
that he talked to me, since was calling at 9pm on a Sunday from his home)anyway I got a hold of him the next day and told him about my situation and he didn't think I was a good candidate for the surgery but suggested
that I attend the support meeting then we would go from there.
I attend the meeting, and discovered why
he (seemed) strange, his method of pre-op is somewhat demanding, you are required to lose 15% of your body weight if you are over 400lbs (to shrink liver) I weigh 475,(do the math) that's alot. He also went on to explain
how he calls people to find out their desire,
dedication and DISIPLINE to have the surgery.
Anyway I haven't met him one on one yet...
BUT I LIKE HIS STYLE

My first impression of my doctor was that I knew he would be a good caring doctor. I had heard how wonderful he was from others who had had the surgery.
I still feel good about my doctor and his office staff. Jill works in Dr. Yasrebi's office and she is very nice. You can call her anytime and she is willing to help. I haven't had any bad feelings about my doctor
Dr. Yasrebi is a great doctor and I recommend him to anyone and everyone. I'm glad that he is my surgeon. He EMPHASIZE after care very strongly. He also has a structured aftercare program. This aftercare program is stressed by Dr. Yasrebi to make sure to stick with it. He explained all the risk associated with the surgery and explained the importance of following his instructions. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Dr. Yasrebi a perfect 10. He comes highly recommended.

My first impression of Dr. Yasrebi was one of disbelief! I had not yet made my first appointment with him. My primary care physician had called me early that day to notify me that I had been approved for an initial consultation with a bariatric specialist (I have an HMO). I called Dr. Yasrebi's office and left a message with his office. He called my home that evening, and we spoke for almost an hour. When I hung up, I just couldn't believe that a doctor, (much less a surgeon!) would dedicate that much time to a potential patient.

Prior to scheduling the first office visit, Dr. Yasrebi insisted that all patients attend a support group meeting held at the hospital. This meeting was extremely informative and it was very obvious that the audience had a close relationship with each other, the doctor and his office assistant.

My first visit took about 3 hours and consisted of a very thorough exam and question and answer session. His office assistant, Jill, handled my insurance questions and prepared the necessary paperwork. My approval for surgery was obtained within a week!

Upon approval, I began the pre-op diet prescribed by Dr. Yasrebi. It is pretty stringent, consisting of only 800 calories a day. Prior to performing "the surgery", the doctor required a minimum 10% weight loss. Additionally, daily exercise and breathing exercises are incorporated into the regiment.

Prior to surgery, weekly appointments to monitor weight loss, perform the necessary pre-op tests, and discuss the risks of surgery as well as expectations, are scheduled.

Dr. Yasrebi and his assistant Jill are very warm and supportive individuals. I have placed my life in their hands and feel quite confident that I have made the right choice.

My first impression of Dr. Yasrebi was, "At least he's the first 'weight loss' person I've gone to that is actually thin!" He is wonderful and I felt comfortable with him at once.

Jill is his receptionist/nurse and she is like walking sunshine. I felt totally accepted from the first phone call I made to her. She did everything she could to assist me and is an insurance wiz.

For anyone going to Dr. Yasrebi, be prepared. You must loose 10% of your body weight. DON'T starve yourself before your first appointment, in fact, Stuff yourself with a great meal. Your diet will soon change! My first thoughts were.... if I could loose weight, why would I be coming to you???? BUT... it is very important. It helps to shrink your liver, which makes it easier for Dr. Yasrebi to 'get in there' and do his thing. It also starts you on better eating habits as well as showing him you are serious about weight loss.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Dr. Yasrebi a big, wonderful 10. I couldn't have wished for a better doctor. He has preformed a little over 500 operations in 19 years and personally cares about you.

Dr. Yasrebi is very professional. He is highly recommended in the community. My first office visit was hard for me and he and his assistant made it very comfortable. I have not had the surgery yet, but I have peers who have had it and he is very dedicated to a pre-op procedure and follows up extensivly.

Every first tuesday of the month is when Dr. Yasrebi holds his support group meetings at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville. The room was packed with people inquiring, pts who have surgical dates and pts who were post op. There was even one woman there who had just had her surgery the day before! I was truly amazed at the whole meeting. The speaker for the night was a young lady who had the procedure done just over a year ago and has lost 120lbs. She looked fabulous! Then Dr. Yasrebi explained the procedure! Not only did he explain the procedure, he explained his plan of care..........pre-op and post-op! As a nurse, I was truly impressed with his compassion and dedication to his patients. He never spoke in fancy medical jargon......he kept it simply and in lay terms so that everyone could understand. He has been doing this procedure for over 19yrs and never had a bad outcome! If you are thinking about WLS, it is worth going to his support group meeting. I guarantee you will be utterly amazed.
