My first impression of Dr. Doxey was that he was very professional yet reserved. Each time I met him, an office visit pre-surgery, right before the surgery, in the hospital and one post-op office visit, my impression of him changed. He became more open and made more comments. He was very compassionate.

His office staff is the norm, nothing spectacular except the two RN;s that work with him Randy and Melissa are exceptional and very open and willing to take their time with you.

There was nothing I didn't like about him, I had complete confidence in his abilities. I only wish I'd seen him more in the hospital aftercare..it was his weekend off.

Future patients should know he is very caring and very much emphasizes aftercare. I sensed he was a perfectionist and that he wants the very best for each patient.

Yes he addressed all risks of the surgery in depth. He answered all my questions completely to my satisfaction.

I would give him an excellent rating overall. His bedside manner is great and his surgical competence is outstanding.

I have not met him yet but I have met Dr. Blackstone and she would not hire him if he was not top notch! 10/2/03 I met with Dr. Doxey and he was very nice. I asked him tons of questions and he was very good about answering all of them. Our next meeting will be Oct 24th. Hope he eats his Wheaties!!! 11/1/03 He is definately a man of few words but very skilled and I do not regreat choosing him for my surgeon.

Here I am almost 6 weeks Post-Op, and I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Doxey. He was all business at our first meeting, and I know not to expect warm and fuzzy from a surgeon, but from my Pre-op appointment, to my surgery, to all my follow-ups, and my Stricture, he has proven to be sweet, compassionate, and really cares about his patients. I am so glad I made the decision to go with Dr. Doxey. Tidewater is losing a fabulous surgeon, and a nice guy!

I met Dr. Doxey on Wednesday, 4/2/03 for my initial consultation. For a minute there I thought I was guest starring on "ER". Wow, his good looks are distracting! (Move over Clooney!) He seems extremely knowledgable and I feel completely confident with his ability to perform a laproscopic RNY. He said he has not lost a patient to date. That's good news to me!

Dr. Doxey's nurse (I don't remember her name -- beautiful skinny blonde) was very nice to me. She weighed me, checked my height (335 lbs -- 5ft 5in) -- and then went over my medical history thoroughly.

Vicky is awesome! She quickly scheduled my appointment with Fran (the dietician) on 4/11/03 -- MY 36th BIRTHDAY! (I can hear it now... "No Cake Cathy!") From what I hear, Vicky is the link to getting things moving in the office all the way through the insurance approvals.

I met Dr. Doxey in February and found him to be very nice and easy to talk to. I have found dealing with his staff has been great too. They are very friendly and respectful. I couldn't have picked a better office! My appointments were set within a comfortable time frame. My authorization was sent in within a timely manner and all is going great!

My impression of Dr Doxey is definitely acceptable! He appears to be knowledgable, professional and is undoubtedly, quite pleasant to the eye! Doesn't it always happen that way, when you look your worst you get a DR. who looks their best!

He does strike me as being a bit shy, nothing (in my opinion) that would hinder his ability to perform my Lap RNY. I think his record preceeds him as far as that goes! Not one patient lost speaks for itself! As I choose life, and prayerfully a nice long healthy one to enjoy my son, husband and family! Here's to a bright future!

Dr. Doxey and office staff were up front and helpful in every aspect of pre-surgery procedures. I think the sleep apnea thing is a crock. My 1st appoitment was 9/27/02, had surgery 1/2/03, lost 60 lbs in 9 weeks.
His office staff is very helpful most of the time. Never have to wait very long.
Dr. Doxey never comes to the support meetings but Fran Johnson the dietician he recommends is trying to get him to come to some. Fran is great and makes up for any short comings Dr. Doxey may have. He is an excellent surgeon and the surgery, I must say, was absolutely painless after my first complaint. They sent pain management to my room 2 hrs post-op and no pain after that.
His after care program leaves a lot to be desired, weight, temp and how do you feel?
See you in six weeks. His support group is tremendous and I always look forward to them.
