Jann Holwick Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

She is the absolute Best - kind, caring, skillful, knowledgable. Highly respected. I wouldn't go to anyone else even in an emergency situation, worth the travel to be cared for by a true professional. Office staff is wonderful as well - they love homemade chocolate chip cookies and never seem to mind the phone calls or faxes or emails.
Follow up care has been exceptional. My impressions have not changed after 5 yr. and eight surgical procedures. I continue to fully trust and respect Jann and her staff and I have no complaints with the hospital either, she can be reached at 540-862-6681.

was very impressed with everyone at Dr. Holwicks office. Because of bad weather, my appt. date had to be re-scheduled, and they were fairly prompt in giving me a new date. I was nervous about the whole thing, but my husband went along with me to ease my nerves. I was weighed first, then my husband and I watched a video about Dr. Holwick and the surgery, and then we went to another room where we talked to Julie. Very nice people! I asked her if she or others got tired of going over all this stuff day after day, and she said that honestly they schedule only so many per day. This is a very popular surgery now, and I know they have loads of patients -- patients who travel to our area just to have Dr. Holwick do the surgery! She answered my questions, and I had a whole page full! Dr. Holwick came in and spoke to both of us about the surgery itself, and how it would affect our relationship! We've been married for 17 years, and it's been roses with a few thorns! I told her that is what I expect of the surgery too! It'll be one of the hardest things I've done, the thorns, but the result will hopefully be like the beauty of the rose! Corny huh? Dr. Holwick seems like a very nice person. Someone that was very down to earth. She reminds me of my friends. Very easy to talk to. I was told by her of the risks and that she had lost 2 patients. (She explained the circumstances). I was really at ease talking to her, and would trust her as my surgeon. I believe that "I" had a responsibility to do some research get info on my own, and since I told both Dr. Holwick and her PA Julie, the explanations that they did were a bit shortened as far as diet, and how I would be affected emotionally and physically, but in their defense, I didn't ask these questions. So, if you want questions answered, ASK! Do your research, and keep a list of questions, and Dr. Holwick and her staff will help! My opinions and observations are my own. Give 'em a chance, and develop your own!

I am very comfortable with Dr. Holwick she was very informative. The office staff is very supportive. She takes her time answering questions.i would rate her as 100% i am just waiting for the surgery date.We still have another visit where i can discuss things in detail. Then i will be able to say more.

My first impression of Dr. Holwick was a good one. She took time to see if I had any questions for her. I have probably spent more time talking with the PA (Julie), but I got a great impression of Dr. Holwick. She even spent a while talking to me in the hospital after the surgery.
The office staff are wonderful. Christy (the receptionist) was the most helpful. Anytime I needed something she didn't hesitate to do it herself.
She did let me go home the day after surgery which was a blessing, I hate hospitals. She was willing to help me out and make me more comfortable any way she could.
Her aftercare program was clearly and concisely written out.
The risks of surgery were thoroughly explained by everyone I talked to.
I believe that both her surgical competence and her bedside manner were super. I was only the 28th person to have the lap surgery but she did great and I would choose her again if I had too.

With my first visit to Dr. Holwick, I felt very comfortable and at ease. She and her staff make you feel this way, they are very pleasant and friendly. When ever I would call to find out the status of my insurance they were always very helpful. I had surgery on Dec. 19, 2002. Surgery went smoothly. I had very addiquite pain control. I developed an infection in my incision while in the hospital, but was put on antibiotics right away and Dr. Holwick released me to go home on Christmas day. That was a great gift! Over all I really like and respect Dr. Holwick, her PA Julie and the rest of her staff.

Down to earth person, very professional and committed to helping people with severe obesity.
At this time my impression remains the same.
Very helpful and efficient.
Seemed to be very shy and introverted.
That she will work dilligently to accomplish the surgery for her patients.

Not really
Very frankly, that this is major surgery and that there is an element of risk involved.

03/27/02 - She comes highly recommended to me from several different people, most of them post-ops. They say not only is she a good surgeon, but she is also a great person as well. Very down to earth and straight forward with wonderful bedside manners. I have an initial consultation with her on June 17th and I'm very anxious about meeting her. . . . 06/19/02 - I finally had my much anticipated consultation with my surgeon, Dr. Jann L. Holwick, on June 17th at Alleghany Regional Hospital and I must say that I was very impressed with her and her staff. All the things I heard about them were true. I don't believe I could've asked for a nicer person to be my surgeon. Her staff was very friendly, yet very professional at the same time. I feel really confident with them and I'm really glad she was suggested to me.
