Post-Op: I still have nothing but praise for Dr. Holwick. I don't see her very often..I have seen her nurse, Lynn, and PA, Julie. Both are wonderful. One drawback...because of the area that Dr. Holwick is in, there is not a formal support group. However, through this web site and word of mouth, I've met several people and a support group for SW Va is being developed.

First impression: Dr. Holwick is great. I met with her in early July. She and her assistant went over the surgery with me and answered the few questions that I had (not many...most have been answered on this site). She seems to have a great empathy for people suffering from obesity and a desire to help them. The office staff was very friendly. The hospital is located in a small town and the staff reflects that in a very positive way. I've heard several recommendations of Dr. Holwick from different people. All have been good...the main reason that I chose her.

My first impression of Dr.Holwick is that she is a very nice and friendly person. She made me feel so at ease. I was not at all nervous or intimidated like I feel with most other Dr.'s. She is very helpful with all of the info. She made me feel hopeful for the first time. Her staff is just the BEST. They are so warm and friendly. Not to mention helpful.I would want future patients to know that if you are seroius about surgery Dr. Holwick will can help you understand all sides(good or not so good).In all I just love Dr. Holwick and her staff.

Dr. Holwick is wonderful. I can't imagine getting better, more professional care from anyone else. She is very skillful and knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain exactly what will happen. She doesn't "sugar-coat" it, she let me know all of the things that would be happening to my body, both good and bad. I was treated with great respect, and whenever I need anything, the staff is always a great help, taking care of all of my needs and easing my concerns.

1. My first impression of her was a feeling of
relief. I felt that someone finally undersood
what I was feeling.
2. I really did not change my attitude toward her,
unless it was for the better.
3. Dr. Holwick's office staff were very helpful and
made me feel very much at home. I feel like
I now have a second family.

Dr. Holwick has been excellent during all procedures, from the pre-op visits to post-op check-ups. She is very down to earth and tells you like it is! She has quite abit of experience doing the gastric bypass, just check her profile out in her office. I traveled 4 hours one way, just to be able to have Dr. Holwick perform the surgery. I would recommend her to anyone! All around I rate Dr. Holwick a 10.

I had my first visit with Dr Holwick about 4 weeks ago and am anxiously awaiting my next visit as I have just recieved my approval letter from my insurance company.

I had a very good visit and felt very welcome, the staff there were very friendly and made me feel comfortable.

Dr Holwick seemed to be very knowledgeable in her field and didn't rush me through the visit at all. I hate going to Drs and feeling like they want to get you out of there so they can get to that next patient.

What also impressed me was that Dr Holwicks staff had 2 people who worked at the hospital come and talk with me about their experience with having WLS. I was very psyched at the end of my visit.

From my experience so far I give her a 10+.

My first and lasting impression is that Dr. Holwick is a very caring physician. Through talking with other hospital employees I discovered that she also has a reputation as being very experienced, as well as a high success rate. The office staff was wonderful, expecially Chris, who made me feel comfortable immediately. Dr. Holwick and staff has always taken time to answer any questions that I might have. Postoperative care was stressed as well as the importance of exercise for weight loss and control. I was surprised that an examination by a psychologist was not required. Although, I was required to have an examination by a Pulmonolgist as I had chronic steroid-dependant asthma. The care from the Pulmonolgist and Respiratory Therapy at Alleghany Regional Hospital was also great.

I have met with Dr. Holwick once for the preliminary screening and felt very comfortable talking with her. The office staff was very kind and I was impressed that they had a large blood pressure cuff for use without having to search for one. At most doctor's offices they seem to have to search forever and it is quite embarrassing as it points out yet again what you already know - you're fat. She requires regular visits to her immediately after surgery and then less frequently as time passes. Dr. Holwick was very up front about the risks of the surgery although she did not dwell on them unneccessarily. One of my major concerns was my age, 54, but she assured me that it would not pose a problem and she has operated on a woman age 65 successfully. I sincerely liked her and look forward to having her perform my surgery.
