I was very happy when I met Dr. Rogers. He was very straight forward and he answered all of my questions. He seemed very confident and I was very pleased to learn that he has 30 years experience doing surgery. I liked that he told me all the good things that will come, and then also warned me that if I didn't do my part, I won't lose and the surgery will not be a success.

Dr. Rogers is a very serious man at first impression. He is very thorough on the information about the surgery. The staff seemed very professional. They didn't seem to miss a thing. There has been a time or two when I've felt like I am just a number. It isn't any one person who I can blame for this feeling. I realize that this is also a business adventure, however, I feel a little more attention should be given to a patient. I very much appretiate the notebook that I received after surgery. It is very informational. To me there are risks to any surgery one has to go thru. I have had three c-sections, so I've been thru my share of surgeries. This one has been a bit tougher than I had anticipated. I have always felt very comfortable with Dr. Rogers. He is a very confident man. This surgery is not as easy as one might think. There are trials and tribulations through the whole process. Nothing is easy about it. I didn't seem to have any problems with the insurance company. BTC took care of everything for me.

I met Dr. Rogers on my first visit to Bariatric treatment center in Ypsilanti. He was very informed, stated that he had been doing this surgery for thirty years. He asked me questions, made a drawing of the procedure and discussed what happens, asked me if I had questions or if my husband had questions. Looked over my medical questions that I had been given and then suggested what types of medical test he would like for me to have, and we went over those. He was very stright forward and answered any and all questions I had. I think with thirty years experience he must be a really good surgeon and I have spoken with someone who he did a surgery on, not bariatric surgery but some other type and they liked him very much and said he was an excellent surgeon. I have since been going to the BTC support meetings and have spoken with several people who he has done this surgery on and they were quite pleased with Dr. Rogers. I think I will be in good hands and feel confident in his abilities as a surgeon. Once I have the surgery I will let you know how he was and what I thought first hand.

I was very impressed with Dr. Rogers. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about the procedure, and I was impressed with the fact that he has done this surgery for 30 years. I went there with a list of questions, but wound up not having to ask them because he answered them all. He really emphasizes the aftercare, and lets you know in no uncertain terms that if you dont follow the aftercare instructions, youre surgery will not be a success. He lets you know that this is only a tool and not the cure. Now all I have to do is go for my cardiac consult, stress test, pulmonary function test, and sleep study and then hopefully I'll get a date. So far I rate Dr. Rogers a 10!

I am a very informed patient, I did mountains and mountains of research. So going into my consultation appointment was just window dressing for me. I knew of the procedure, the risks and I knew this was what I wanted to do. When I finally got to talk to Dr. Rogers I told him I had done lots of research on the internet and he told me that that was not always a good thing. From this I wasn't all that thrilled about him. After listening to him go though his speech I found his personality to be friendly and out going but abrupt at the same time. Basically, he has a straight nosed approach...this is the surgery and this is how to make the surgery affective and if you do not follow these guidelines he basically didn't want anything to do with you. So I guess this was good in that he is committed to making this my LAST weight loss attempt. I can now see how his approach was meant to scare off those who were not sure they were ready for the life time commitment ahead of them.

Dr. Rogers went through each risk and told me how he and his team work to eliminate those risks...ie walking within 4 hours after surgery etc. He told of the aftercare and how important eating the right foods and not binge eating was going to be my way of getting all the excess weight off and keeping it off. I truely believe he and his office staff are not doing this to get paid but to truely help us transform ourselves into happy healthy people, and that to me this is the ultimate goal.

Dr. Jerry Rogers, I feel was very informative in all aspects of the surgery. I went for my consultation with a list of questions and never had to ask any as he coverd them all. He was very personable and thurough in his explanations. I could explain the exact procedure and any health risks involved when I was finish. My daughter went with me and felt very secure in the knowledge that Dr. Rogers was doing my surgery. He has had over 30 years experience with the RNY surgery as this procedure was used in other surgeries besides the Bariatric treatment years ago. I feel that Dr. Rogers is straight to the point in all aspects only because you need to be sure you understand that this is a life time change and not just for cosmetic purpose. He also stresses how important the before and after care is for your health. They have very strict routines to follow as well as working with a nutritionist to help you with this change. I feel that all the pre- and post- discussions with my doctor left me well informed as to what to expect. I have not been scheduled yet but was told on 09/04/02 that I would receive my scheduling call the first of next week. My initial consult was in July and I am already to set a date. I am going in understanding all risks, but most are no different than with any surgery. If health is an issue for yourself than I feel this is only bettering my chance of longer lasting good health. I would rate Dr. Rogers a 10 in surgical procedure information and a 8 in personality only because he seems to be a vary serious person and takes his job serious. I will update as I have my surgery. Anyone thinking of having this surgery...just remember to discuss with your family doctor first and then review, review, research and research to be sure you understand all aspects. I have no bad experience or disapointment to acknowledge...but I did go into this with my eyes wide open leaving no stone unturned.

First impression very personable, friendly and informative, his office staff wasy very friendly, he has a wonderful sense of humor. I am told from checking him out medically that he is a wonderful surgion. His aftercare program is thru the BTC of Ypsilanti and I am very impressed with the entire center. Dr Rogers took time to tell me of the complication and the outcome to expect if I was not compliant with the program. He was not a hard selling kind of guy, I would rate not only his bedside manner but also his known cometence to be the 2 reasons for choosing him as a physician

I got a kick out of Dr. Rogers. He was straight-forward and thorough in his explanations. You can tell that he really likes what he does. When I was post-op, I could hear him coming down the hall every day, greeting the staff. He is very up-beat.
When he discharged me, he was emphatic as to what I could and could not do at home. Great bedside manner.
My room-mate at the BTC and I were convinced that he never knew our names, because he never called us by our names. I think that's because you are only there for four days, and he sees one patient after the other.
The BTC is very ASSEMBLY-LINE in its approach to their patients and their procedures. That's not necessarily a negative. I chose the BTC because I wanted a place that did this surgery ruitinely.
