When I walked past Dr. Leverton in the hall, I didn't realize that she was a doctor. My first impression was that she was too young. After talking with her, she made me feel very comfortable and she put my mind at ease with the questions that she answered for me. She came highly recommend by my co worker who also had the surgery with her. From what he told me and from what I noticed myself, I feel that I'm going to be in good hands. The office staff were all very friendly. I was truly impressed with the over sized chairs in the office, they actually made me feel small! It was nice to be able to sit into a chair and still have room left to add my purse on the seat. Dr. Leverton stressed the aftercare program in great details. She firmly belives in getting her patients up four hours after surgery. She mentioned that the more you move after surgery the better you will feel, and the faster you will heal. I'm looking forward to starting my new life with her help.

I first met Dr. Leverton during my initial consultation at the Bariatric Treatment Center of Texas. As others have also written, my first impression was that she seemed so very young - prompting me to ask her about her qualifications and surgery experience. Dr. Leverton was wonderful about taking time to explain things fully to me and ask if I was satisfied with her responses. After only a few minutes I realized that she was a competent and compassionate doctor that truly enjoyed her work.
She went to great lengths to ask me questions concerning my current health state and past weight loss attempts. It was nice not feeling that I was in a "sales pitch," and had ample opportunity to discuss my concerns and the risks of Roux-en-Y. Since my family has a history of blood clots following major surgeries, she insisted I contact a hemotologist as well as a cardiologist (beyond the required pshych. evaluation).
My case was denied initially, and I was quite surprised when Dr. Leverton called me personally to explain what had happened and the next steps towards a reversal on appeal. It tooks some time to gather all of the necessary documentation, but was informed in early December that the independent review org. has approved my surgery. My best advice to anyone starting out is to do the legwork BEFORE submitting your paperwork to the insurance company. I wasn't aware that the past weight loss attempts needed such exact documentation, and that's what caused my initieal denial. Better to wait a couple of weeks to gather everything than to receive a 'rubber stamp' denial letter.
I'd give Dr. Leverton a 10 out of 10, the Bariatric Treatment Center in Texas a 9 out of 10, but have lower marks for their national insurance coordinators. Mine never called me, in fact, I only spoke to her once before she left the company, and was never informed who received my case. All in all, the experience wasn't as daunting as I feared it might be.

I first met Dr. Leverton on October 29, 2002 and was impressed with her and her staff from the get go. She made sure I left her office with my evew wide open. I can honestly say that I had no questions unanswered. She told me everything there was to know from the good to the bad and everything in between. I left there feeling ready to begin a new life. She let me know the risks, she told me of all the aftercare and what was to be expected of me. I spent time with her office staff as well, and Kim was very informative. I look forward to my surgery. The insurance company has already called and approved my surgery, now I am just waiting on my personal doctor to give me a Cardiac clarence to under go surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Leverton after speaking with her was that she very intelligent. She gave me all of the confindence that I needed to go through the surgery. She is sweet, and very caring. I would recommend her and her staff to ANYONE!!There is nothing that I disliked about her or her staff. Any one that goes to her will not regret it. She emphasizes a great deal on after care. She tells you all of the risks of the surgery, she doesn't want anyone going in not knowing the risks. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate her and her staff at 20 easy. They are a superb group of people.

Dr. Leverton seemed both very capable and understanding. Dr. Leverton made me realize the importance of keeping up with the aftercare program... we make our own success, the surgery is just an aid. I was very knowedgeable about most of the aspects of the surgery before going to the consult so I didn't have to ask any questions. The staff at BTC has been excellent thus far, and I expect that to continue. I have chosen to have my surgery at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Wylie Texas, I feel safer going to a hospital that only cares for other bariactir patients. To me the difference seems similar to a woman having a baby on an oncology floor instead of a maternity ward.... the total enviroment is set up to care for one type of patient and they do it right the first time.

My first consultation was 10-11-02. From the moment I walked into BTC I new I had choosen the right place. They actually had chairs I could fit into! Her staff was excellent. So far I have not had any issues and normally first impressions are an indication of what to expect!
Dr. Leverton was so open with me I felt I have known her for years. Her age (young) bothered me at first but after hearing she has been in practice for 10 years my fears deminished. She focused on the risks more than anything. I really appreciated the honesty. That way I am not going into this surgery blind sided! I know the facts and it is because of her that I do!!!
She has my utmost respect and I look forward to a life altering change with her by my side. :)

I am now almost three weeks post op. Dr. Leverton at the BTC in Wylie, Tx is an angel that walks among us. There are no words to express what a wonderful doctor she is. Not only was my op wonderful and my scar will be wonderful, but her bedside manner and caring for me (I saw her everyday I was in the hospital by the way) was indescribable. She is wonderful and I love her with all of my heart!

very sweet, understanding, considerate and clear and explicative about the proceedure.
Dr. Leverton had me leaving her office in confidence that this was for me.
Her staff and office had a very comfortable feeling, they made you at home, from the begining of making the appointment with the bariatric surgery center appointment scheduler.I had no complaints and was comfortable with Dr. Leverton. I would recommend anyone that was considering this type of wieght loss to visit and choose Dr. Leverton. She emphasizes aftercare very highly. She does have a structered aftercare program, She has you up walking 4 hours after the surgery and suggest that some type of exercise be used in the healing and after the healing process. She gave me information that there was a 1 in 400 risk in the surgery. I would rate her as the highest in Barriatric surgery. Bedside manner is great, but I would have to say that surgical competence is the most important And I feel that Dr. Leverton is highly surgically competence.
