My first impression of Dr julie, was hey she seems young or was it that she just aged gracefully. For me being 25,she seemed prety young. I was skeptical, so i threw some questions at her that i received from this site. She answered them all and even drew me some diagrams. She is very thorough. SHe kind of rushed me a little bit. But as long as the questions got answered i didn't care. The office had a nice setup, roomy cars, made me feel quite petite actually(smile) the medical assistant was very nice.Very structured environment. When i asked her about the surgery she advised she had one man who died post op 3 months later of a heart attack anyway, maybe if he had not waited so long on the surgery. I like d the fact that she was competent since this is a major surgery and not an Operation Board game. Based on all my research and facts i decided to let her perform the surgery and i am just waiting on approval now.

When i First meet Julie i knew i had nothing to worry about, she was very caring, and had not problems answering any of my questions. She answered all my questions and then some. I would mention her to anyone who is interested in having this procedure done. Julie lets you know what you need to do in full detail what you need to do after you have had your surg, and she also tells you if you have any questions or problems, once your home to give her a call. I called her on a problem i had, and she called me back in less than five minutes at my home, now that tells me she means what she says. Doc Leverton, explained to me all the risk, in the surg, and all the possible things that could go wrong and the percentages. If i was to rate her from a 1-10 i would rate her a BIG 10. Shes the best!!!!

I was impressed from the start. When I took a seat in those over-sized lobby chairs and still had room on either side of me, I turned and looked at Sarah and asked her "Is this what it is like to be a normal size?" The tears swelled up in me just from that alone. Right down to the types of chairs in the waiting room, the Bariatric Treatment Center (BTC) is so sensitive to the needs of their patients.

As for the doctor... Dr. Julie Leverton is wonderful, such an affable person! Intelligent and professional, yet humble, I found her so easy to talk to about all of my concerns. She proved to be very witty and warm, and put my wife and I both at ease. Her staff is wonderful as well... Shanta and Kimberly are especially awesome!

I have read about her that she is double BOARD CERTIFIED!

The simple point I want to make here is that I cannot imagine a better place than the Bariatric Treatment Center to undergo this type of surgery. I cannot rave enough about them all-- they were wonderful! A huge thanks to Donna, Mary, Samantha, and all of the others there (so many to name) that helped me as well as Dr. Julie Leverton and her surgical staff-- you all saved my life!

I prayed that God would give me the right surgeon and I belive he answered my prayer. About 5 mins before my itital consult Dr. Idie walked out of BTC forever, I was sitting in the exam room thinking maybe I shouldn't be here. The staff asked if I minded seeing Dr. Leverton and I said why not I drove 85 miles to see someone:) After about an hour and a half of wait time I finally got to see Kimberly the councilor, due to a shortage of time and everyone wanting to go home, they asked if I would mind seeing the Doctor as a small group instead of by myself. I said no problem I went ahead with it.I can't tell you how much better I felt seeing ladies who were just like myself and hearing their questions that I had not even thought of yet. The entire thing went suprisingly well and I was so glad that doctor had walked out on his job. Dr. Leverton was awesome and really showed she cared by not making all of us reschedule and took us in as her own. She was very knowlegdeable, outgoing, and had a great sense of hummor ;) It was all in Gods timing and well worth the wait.

I started out with another surgeon, Dr. Glenn Idhe, at the same hospital (BTC). One week before my surgery he left, and switched to Dr. Leverton. I met her just one day before surgery, and could not have been happier - she is wonderful, caring, supportive, and that opinion has not changed.

The office staff is so friendly and accomodating.

There was nothing that I didn't like about Dr.

Great emphasis is placed on aftercare. I am 2 months postop, and have been in 3 times for followup. They stress that you can call anytime, and they mean it. I have called in the late evening, and Dr. Leverton always returns my calls within 1/2 hour. Aftercare is structured with visits scheduled at 2 wks., 6 wks., 3 mos. and anually after that. I was sent home with a manual with everything I could ever need to know in an easy to read and understand format.

I would rate Dr. Leverton a 10+, surgical competence and knowledge, and bedside manner outstanding.

My first visit with doctor Leverton was a good one she explained everything then ask did I have any questions . The office staff was very nice . She did talk about the risk of the surgery but said she has never lost a person to this surgery but not to say it wont happen . And she said that most the people that have problems are carring much more weight then I . Over all she is a very caring and informative surgeon . Note : I might not be able to use her because she is not in my ins book .So I will have to look into that .

Had initial consultation with Dr. Leverton on July 29th. She came across as very competent and confident. I have done tons of research before hand so there was nothing anyone there told that I did not already know. She answer my questions and I hope to get an approval soon. (Side note, the initial consult was $85, I had not seen anyone comment on this before so just an FYI)

Dr. Leverton seemed very professional, and very personable at the same time. Very nice mix of bedside manner and good knowledge of the procedure. I asked some -very- detailed questions about the procedre (such as how she plans to check for leaks at the staple line during the procedure), and she answered in great detail, and it didn't seem to bother her that I was asking "nuts and bolts" type questions.

The staff at the BTC were all very courteous and professional as well. All in all, I left feeling much better about having an RNY done there. If you have a history of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), Dr. Leverton will require you to have a Greenfield filter installed, if you don't already have one, so mabey this info will help someone else to get that done ahead of time, before the initial consultation.

Now that I have had my surgery, I wanted to update here. For those considering BTC, you are in good hands. For those considering Dr. Julie Leverton, I just can't say enough good things about this surgeon. She is caring, listens to your issues, and seems to genuinely care about the patient. I don't think I could have possibly asked for a better experience than I have had with the Wylie Texas BTC, or with Dr. Leverton. Both are simply outstanding.

Dr. Leverton has seemed very professional and has shown a lot of concern regarding my ability to make it through the surgery.

I am now 7 days post-op and am even more impressed with Dr. Leverton, even though she cancelled my surgery 6 days before the 17th. She was very concerned because of the shunt I had in my brain. She and I had a very serious talk, and she also spoke with my neuro-surgeon. Only after she was completely satisfied that this surgery would more likely improve than harm my life did she agree to put me back on the schedule. Whooo?

Future patients should know that Dr. Leverton is 150% focused on the health of her patient. She is determined to make a positive difference in the lives of her patients.

Dr. Leverton has an excellent, structured aftercare program. I believe that she and the BTC Staff will be there all the way for me.

Though I am normally not an easily impressed person, I am very impressed with Dr. Leverton and the majority of her staff and associates.
