Kerry Ozment Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Ozment in my opinion is the best bariatric surgeon in the nation. Since I had to self pay, I did a ton of research looking for the right surgeon and I am absolutely certain that I made the best choice.
Dr. Ozment did my open RNY on June 24, 2003 and here I am 9 weeks later and 45 pounds lighter!! I feel wonderful and energetic, I am eating well and not living on protein shakes.
Dr. Ozment and his staff are so wonderful and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and answer any questions you might have. He was very personable and easy to talk to. Madolyn and Judy are the greatest nurse and receptionist ever. I have never been to a Dr. or Dr.'s office where the staff was so sincere about really caring about you.
There was not anything about Dr. Ozment that I didn't like, he was just wonderful. I would rate him an 11 on a scale from 1-10!! Both his bedside manner and surgical competence were equally superb!!

I have only spoken with a staff person named Judy, but she was very knowledgeable and very likeable. She gave clear and understandable explanations for all aspects of how it's done at St. Vincents and, unlike my previous choice for surgeon, I am very confident that this is the right choice. Dr. Ozment only does open, because he wants accurate measurement of the total length of intestine in order to gauge how much to bypass, and because he removes the gall bladder. In a lap, the former is difficult and the latter impossible. This doesn't mean that "Lap is Bad", only that his thinking lined up with my intuition on these questions. Also, the care and hospitality factor at St. Vincent is excellent. They even include a stay at the hotel next door for postop observation in the package price! I will update this after meeting the doctor in a few weeks.

I first met Dr. Ozment on June 30th. He is the best. He explained the surgery in detail and also talked about the pros and cons of having the surgery. He is very kind and really cares about his patients. My surgery was on July 1st and the surgery could not have gone any better. My scar looks great. He also has a great bedside manner.
His office staff is wonderful. Judy and Madolyn our friendly and helpful. I can't comment on his aftercare program because I live in Wisconsin. I do have to return in one year to see Dr. Ozment. I can't wait for him to see what a difference he made in my life.

After reading about Dr. Ozment on this web site, I attended the next seminar that he had scheduled. First impressions were very accurate. This Doctor was completely different from other Doctors. He was very cordial, very self assuring type of person. With every word that he spoke, I knew I had found my surgeon. You just have to meet him to understand this. Others have said that he had good bedside manner, but GREAT would be more like it. His office staff is also very good. They have always answered my questions without any hesitation. He's simply the best, in my opinion.

Dr. Ozment is one that is very knowledgable in this his field. Very nice man, good doctor manners, and one that I would all encounge to see. He gives you lots of information, does test to make sure all will go well, and his staff will go out of there way to help you in any way they can. After you leave and return to your home town, you have an 800 number to stay in contact with the nurse. If she can not answer your question, Dr. Ozment will call you back.
The hospital has a whole ward set for just this surgery. Big beds, priviat rooms, and a staff that knows what they are doing.
Wonderful set, very glad I did this.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR OZMENT WAS ALL KNOWING. HE TRULY IS KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE SURGERY AND HAS MUCH EXPERIENCE. HE ACTUALLY PERFORMED SURGERY ON MY FATHER IN 1974. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE SURGERY THAT THEY DO TODAY WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT WAS DONE THEN. THERE HAD BEEN MANY CHANGES. DR. OZMENT SUPPORT STAFF IS AWESOME INCLUDING THE DIETITION. THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL TODAY AND I AM 2 WEEKS FROM MY SURGERY. HE TRULY MADE ME BELIEVE THAT HE COULD IMPROVE MY LIFESTYLE WITH THIS SURGERY. I AM A DIABETIC THAT WAS LOOKING AT POSSIBLE MAJOR ORGAN FAILURE IN THE NEXT 2-3 YEARS. I HOPE AND BELIEVE THAT TODAY MY DIABETES IS ON ITS WAY TO REMISSION AND HIS STAFF IS COMMITED TO HELPING ME GET THERE AND ALSO I AM LOSING WEIGHT. THE SUPPORT STAFF ACTUALLY CAME AND VISITED ME EVERYDAY IN THE HOSPITAL BESIDES DR. OZMENT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY NICE.
DR OZMENT WILL COMMUNICATE THE RISKS TO YOU UP FRONT. HE ALSO WILL QUALIFY YOU. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS DOCTOR IS THAT HE KNOWS IF YOU NEED THIS SURGERY OR NOT AND HE WILL SAY NO IF YOU NEED TO HERE IT. HE ALSO WILL ENCOURAGE YOU, I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS DOCTOR IS ONLY PROFIT MOTIVATED. I BELIEVE HE DOES WHAT HE DOES LIKE IT WAS A CALLING, GOD GAVE HIM THIS KNOWLEDGE TO HELP OTHERS IN LIFE.

Dr. Ozment is very knowledgable and my first impression of him was wonderful. He sold me instantly in his seminar. His nurses, Judy and Madoline are so nice and caring. I feel certain he is the right doctor for me. He explains the surgery with details and he makes you understand everything he tells the first time he tells it. I now have my date--May 7th!!

Dr. Ozment was direct, clear and concise with the information provided. The best part of working with him was the feeling of respect that was communicated. He was very thorough in the explaination of the procedure and what to expect afterward. I am pleased with the results and have recommended him to many. The booklet of information provided was very helpful and I think much of the post op success was due to the information provided. On the 1 - 10 scale he gets a 10 on all questions on your list. The office staff did well on each contact.
I was very terrified prior to the first office visit and completely at ease after that. There was little information available of what to expect back in 1992 when I was considering this.
There have been no negatives to report since the procedure.

HE WAS A VERY PLEASANT MATTER OF FACT MD, VERY INFORMATIVE. I DONT REMEMBER TOO TERRIBLY MUCH ABOUT HIM IT WAS 11 YEARS AGO AND I WAS 14 YEARS OLD WHEN I HAD IT DONE I HAVE ONLY MET HIM 4 TIMES BEFORE AND AFTER THE SURGURY. IT WOULD BE HEAVEN IF HE WOULD CONSIDER A REVISION OF MY SURGURY, SINCE HE WAS MY ORIGINAL MD. ALSO IT SEEMS EVERY DR THAT I HAVE SOUGHT OUT FOR THE REVISION SEEMS LEARY OF GOING OVER THE OLD SURGURY UNLESS THEY WERE THE ONE WHO DID THE PRIMARY SURGURY. DR OZMENT ALSO DID MY FATHERS PROCEDURE. MY DAD WAS 450 LB. NOW HE IS 190LB . HE IS 12 YEARS POST OP.NEITHER OF US HAVE SEEN HIM SINCE OUR 6 WK CHECK UP. I BELEIVE THAT IS PARTLY BECAUSE OF THE 3 HOUR DISTANCE OF HIS OFFICE FROM OUR HOME.
HE EXPLAINED THE RISKS VERY THOROUGHLY TO US AND THE BENEFITS OUT WEIGHED THE RISK OF REMAINING MORBIDLY OBESE ESPECIALLY FOR ME BEING 330 LB @14 YEARS OLD
I BELIEVE SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER ARE BOTH IMPOTANT FACTORS WHEN CHHOSING YOUR DOCTOR. ALSO I ALWAYS LIKE TO KNOW HOW LONG THE MD HAS BEEN PREFORMING THE PROCEDURE.
I RATE DR OZMENT FROM WHAT I REMEMEMBER OF HIM AS A TOP NOTCH, VERY WELL EDUCATED AND COMPETANT INDIVIDUAL.
