Dr. Ver Steeg made this decision easy for me to make. I had been to see 2 other surgeons and always backed out. I felt he treated me as a person and cared that I wanted to lose weight. I don't feel that he ever judged me. His office staff are awesome. They are always there for questions, advice, and encouragement. I don't like how I talk more to the nurses about my food diet than to him. I sometimes feel more confused after talking to him. Overall, he is a a wonderful surgeon. Good bedside manner and competence.

The first thing I remember is that I had finally found someone willing to help me, who believed in me, and who made me believe I could do it. The office staff was absolutely amazing and never made me feel silly for calling with the smallest questions. Always willing to help! They have support groups that he shows up to every time. This has been an invaluable tool to me! Aftercare is extremely important in my success. He addressed the risks of surgery with me in a very honest way and took all precautions. (i had previous history of blood clots to the lungs) The only thing i struggled with is pain control after surgery as I was allergic to the pain meds. The only alternative he had was baby tylenol so it was a very tough few days for me at home. Other than that, Dr. Ver Steeg and his staff are the best out there. Not only for the surgical care I received but for the after care and all the extras they do. I believe they are not just interested in surgical aspect, but in my overall success and that has made all the difference. They have celebrated all my victories and helped me through the times when I was uncertain. They have offered themselves in my journey. If your doc and his staff haven't done that for you, you need to come see my doc and his staff!!

Dr. Ver Steeg has been wonderful!! I think he his very caring about his patients and very honest about the risks. He has never been in a hurry to run out the door. He has always taking the time to answer all of my questions. His nurses are just as good! I still call his office often and I'm 3 weeks out today. Him or his nurses never make me feel like a pest. I would recommend him to anyone!!!

Dr. VerSteeg was/is fabulous!! He is very thorough in everything he does and explained everything to a \"T\" before and after surgery. He is very personable and compassionate for his patients. I liked him immediately and felt he was a truly genuine person. My impression of him has remained the same since my first visit with him. The office staff is wonderful and very helpful. Anyone interested in pursuing surgery with him may want to know that he is all about \"lifestyle\" change. You are put on a 600 calorie diet two weeks before surgery - that was a toughie. Also, he doesn't want his patients to drink pop - regular or diet -after surgery. (This was a BIG toughie for me, as I was a Pepsi-a-holic!!! :-) He is great at letting patients know exactly what they need to do after surgery to care for themselves and to be successful. He addressed the risks of surgery through the introductory seminar as well as through the paperwork that is signed pre-op. On a scale of 1-10 I would give Dr. VerSteeg an 11!! He is both surgically competent and has a great bedside manner. His colleague, Dr. Mohammed is also very nice and compassionate. The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was the 600 calorie diet. While it was hard at the time to understand why he was \"starving\" me, so to speak, I am glad now that he had me do it. I believe that my body had no problems in adjusting to the small amounts of food because of it. In all, I have had a VERY positive experience!

When I show Dr. Ver Steeg it was in Ft. Dodge. That is where I had my surgery. Dr. Ver Steeg is a very kind man and his entire staff is very supportive. Aftercare is very importent and the whole office helps to make sure you get it. They have an aftercare program in Ft. Dodge and now in Mason City. He told me all the risks and explained very clearly what I would be facing. I would do it all over again if I had too. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are great. Would recomend him to anyone interested in this type of surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Ver Steeg was wow! This man knows what he is talking about! He is an outgoing, friendly person, who is extremely knowledgeable and an all around good guy. I attended one of Dr. Ver Steeg's seminars in March of this year and was grateful for his presentation. He put everything out on the line and explained both the pros and cons of surgery along with all of the associated risks and complications. With a life changing surgery such as this, it is extremely important to know what risks are involved and how common they are problems. I would definetly recommend Dr. Ver Steeg to everyone I know who is considering weight loss surgery. He has great bedside manner and is very personable.

Dr. Ver Steeg is a very kind and genuinely caring individual.rnrnThe office staff have been extremely helpful and knowledgeable if you have any questions. If they don't know the answer, they'll get it for you. rnrnIf you were to choose Dr. Ver Steeg, you'd be amazed at how he lets you know by his actions and kind words that he really does care.rnrnHe stresses after care even BEFORE surgery. They hold support groups and he wants you to attend regular meetings for at least 1 year after surgery and preferably before!!rnrnHis aftercare program is extremely structured. He has an upfront fee NOT covered by insurance of $300.00. This covers the foods you will need for the first 2-4 weeks after surgery and gives you the benefit of 24-7 care at only a phone call away. Someone is on call 24-7. Imagine that!!rnrnThe risks of surgey. He's a straight shooter. Does not beat around the bush about anything.rnrnHow I would rate Dr. Ver Steeg. I've seen many doctors in my life. And I can say without hesitation I have never had a doctor make me feel as comfortable or as important as he did and I am completely confident in putting my life in his hands.rnrnI know you're thinking \"is there anything negative about this doctor? He sounds to good to be true\". Well, the only and I stress ONLY thing I can say that really isn't so much negative but an observation. He needs to slow down a little. rnrnMy first appointment with him I felt a little rushed. But I think alot of this had to do with the fact that we couldn't move any further until I had a scope done. rnrnGood luck on choosing your doctor!!rn
