I want to thank Dr. Ver Steeg for doing my surgery. If I didn't have it done, I may not have been here today. I was so bad; I was walking with 2 canes. I just wanted to sit, it was too hard for me to move. Now after surgery I feel so good, I can do things that I never thought I would do again. I have a lot of energy and want to be going all the time. I have been exercising 2-3 days a week. I work out on the machines and walk on the treadmill. I like to go for walks, go for walks, go biking and I even down on the floor to play with my grandson. This summer ( July 2004 ) I played volleyball at our gastric by pass group picnic. It has been 17 months since I had surgery. I can't thank Dr.Ver Steeg enough for doing my surgery, which saved my life.

When I went to see Dr. VerSteeg I weighed 228 lbs. My knees hurt, my blood pressure was high, I never wanted to go outside and play with my daughter, and I was not to fond of my image in the mirror.(I also had parents who have had strokes, heart problems, or both) I had my surgery on May 21, 2004, one month after my husband. I have lost 61.5 lbs. I feel great!!!! I no longer take blood pressure medicine, this summer I practiced softball with my daughter, my knees no longer ache like they used to , and best of all I got into a size 12. I would do it all over again. Dr. VerSteeg, Phyllis, Connie & Jill are the best!!!

When i first met Dr. Ver Steeg i was very nervous about making this decision to have surgery. I had tried everything else and had given up on looking \"normal\" ever again. The Dr. first told us if we weren't absolutely positive this was what we wanted to do then we shouldn't be doing it. I was sure from then on that this was my answer. At my last appt. before my surgery he gave me a worry rock. It was a heart shaped flat stone with a thumb indention in the middle. He told me he uses it whenever he worries. I was so touched i started to tear up. I was able to have it with me throughout the surgery. It really showed me he cares for each and every patient.

Dr. Versteeg was kind and understanding and help me over come the fear I had of doing the surgery. He is a very welcoming man. Is a great surgeon. The office staff never forget you by name and they truely take an interest in how you are and where you are in your journey. I have recommended him to many of the people I know that are overwieght and that have expressed an interest in the surgery and am proud to say that some are now success stories on Dr. Ver Steeg and his team as well. He very involved to make sure that you keep up with your treatments and very understanding of your feelings and your families involvement as well. If I were to do it all over again I would choose no other doctor.
