Leo Murphy Bariatric Surgeon
Caring, fatherly, warm and knowledgable.rnrnVery down to business. Sometimes he seemed to be in too much in a hurry.rnrnStaff seems to be very knowledgable. If they don't know the answer they knew who to ask.rnrnSometimes I felt that he was in too much of a hurry. I didn't always have time to think of all the questions I had for him, but after surgery, I was still thinking slowly.rnrnHis daughter, who is also very helps follow up on his patients. She is a little less in a hurry and very caring.rnrnAftercare seems to be handled on a rotating basis by all the surgeons in Pacific Bariatric's staff. They all emphasize equally the importance of scheduled follow up appointments.rnrnYes, PB has a schedule of followup appointments for all post-op patients.rnrnHe was very careful to help me minimize the risks. He made me have extra medical testing (on my heart) to make sure the surgery would be safe for me.rnrnOverall, I'd rate him as very good; even better with the full PB team.rnrnI think surgical competence & bedside manner are both great.rn---------------rnSince Kaiser is not using Pacific Bariatrics for any more of their Northern California WLS patients, I have not had any more followups since my 1 year follow up from PB.rnrnI have to work with my PCP and other local Kaiser doctors for all my bariatric follow up. Unfortunatetly, many of the non bariatric doctors are unfamiliar with what bariatric patients need.
dr. leo is awesome! i had complications and had to go back in the hospital twice and he took the best care of me. he was very, very concerned and explained everything that was happening. he's very straightforward and strict about his protocol, but it's definitely in the patient's best interest. i would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in wls.rnrndr. murphy is pretty much retired from doing wls so now i've switched to dr. lawrence tanaka in the same office. i see him for my surgery follow-ups and he also did hernia repair on me 8/06. he''s a great surgeon and a very nice man. he's got a dry sense of humor and comes off as being very serious, but he's a sweetheart!
My First impression of Dr. Leo was one of professionalism and security. I felt he was totally capable. He even looked me in the eye and told me that he would take care of me. He is very strict but for a reason. Even though I did have some serious complications, he was quick to respond, and had no problem consulting other surgeons. The complications were unfortunate, but Dr Leo and his daughter Dr. Mary did every thing in their power to save my life. They both also included my family during my 2 month hospital stay They were both so very busy, but I never felt that they did not have time for me. I owe them both my life.
I originally saw him at the orientation and really liked him there. At my consultation he looked through my chart, verifying some things and then examined my abdominal area.
He went through the process of WLS, drawing a diagram of the operation on my chart, then outlined the risks and hazards of the operation on the same page along with some reminders of what I can and cannot do post-op. He was very careful to make sure I understood all aspects of the process.
I am now required to lose 30 more pounds and am to see him in 2 months to evaluate whether I am ready for surgery. I am now to substitute a protein shake for 2 meals now, and to begin daily vitamins. I am also to build up to 40 minutes of walking on a treadmill at a 6 degree angle by that time.
If I am successful, I will be scheduled as soon as possible for surgery at that time.
I found him to be extremely caring and very willing to work with me, but yet inflexible as regarding my personal preparations for surgery, i.e., the weight loss, vitamins and exercise.
Dr. Murphy is awesome.
I still think he is awesome.
The best office staff of any place I have ever been.
I have nothing bad to say.
He is a straight shooter.
He is very concerned about after care.
No! I would not call it structured but he doees suggest thins to do.
He broke everything down step by step. He let me know all of the benefits and disadvantages.
10 ALL THE WAY.
I believe it all goes hand and hand.
I loved Dr Murphey and his daughter, my recovery was uneventful, had no complications. If I had to do it all again, he would be my choice. His staff was caring and friendly and very professional and followed up with all paperwork in a timely manner. Always returned calls. After care was very important to this doctor. At my consultation, he spent the time to go over the entire program, surgery, and risk. I rate Dr Murphy and the rest of Pacific Bariactics a 10....
