Leo Murphy Bariatric Surgeon
I chose Dr. Murphy because of his great reputation and the fact that he was once the Director of Surgery at Mercy Hospital. They don't give that priveledge to just anyone! :) I also heard about his wonderful bedside mannor and how kind, caring and compassionate he was. Well, I was NOT dissappointed.

I finally got to meet Dr. Murphy on December 29th and he was indeed what everyone was saying he was. I am so thrilled to have him as my surgeon. He sat down and took TIME to meet with me and my husband and was just the nicest man going over so much info and keeping it in terms so I could completely comprehend it all.

His office staff was wonderful too and very supportive and understanding. In fact, everyone I came into contact with at Hillcrest Surgical Group and Pacific Bariatrics were exceptional.
I instantly new that I wanted Dr. Murphy to perform my surgery. I heard him give the informational lecture to everyone...and he mentioned that his daughter had had the surgery. That was it. Any surgeon that was going to allow his own child to have this surgery was the man I wanted operating on me. He was also incredibly warm and caring, and I knew it would be a good fit.
He is absolutely wonderful - one of my biggest cheerleaders. He is, unfortunately, very busy, and that makes it difficult to get in to seem him. I still maintain that he is worth the wait....but I know that it could be very frustrating for other folks.
I believe that Dr. Murphy is one of those rare doctors that is both surgical competent (above and beyond other surgerons) as well as having an award winning bedside manner. He's "Mr. Wonderful".
If always getting to see the same doctor is important to you, then Dr. Murphy may not be the best choice for you (he really seems to have the most impacted schedule in the PBG Surgical group).
