Leo Murphy Bariatric Surgeon
I like Dr. Murphy a lot. He is very kind and sort of fatherly. He explained the surgery to me and drew me a diagram. He wanted to make sure I knew exactly what the risks were and why it was so important to have a lot of protein prior to surgery and exercise. His office staff was also great. Very friendly. I am excited to have him as my doctor. I feel very confident having him as my surgeon.
Actually my first surgeon was going to be Dr. Rumsey. He was friendly, just as much as Dr. Murphy. I would even say that Dr. Murphy was 'jovial' :) He made me laugh and feel comfortable. Even now when I see him for follow-up visits I still feel comfortable about him. The last time I saw him was just recently about a hernia that had developed along my incision from the bypass, and he will be repairing it. He is quick, he likes to make sure you completely understand what he wants to do and plans to do with your inside 'plumbing'. He draws pictures and shows you on your tummy, and explains the pros and cons as well as how it may effect you. His entire office has been angels to me, especially after I had the bypass surgery. I had developed some problems from the anasthesia and they called and kept in touch with me, and made arrangements to make sure I see the doctor who had done my anasethsia at the hospital. He also made me feel comfortable when I told him that I felt like I wasn't heavy enough for the surgery as well as I was so young compared to many of the other people I saw at the seminar, nor was I as heavy as the others. He was very positive and said that I made a good choice because of all those things. He was overall a great surgeon. He seems to know his stuff and knows how to talk to his patients.
I met Dr.Murphey for the first time and as a nurse felt very at ease. He was was informative without being patronizing. He pushed the preop program of protein drinks, vitamins and walking.(I had already started these). After care is a biggie with him and the pacific bariatric group as a whole. This originally attracted me to them. He went over in great detail the risks involved and some things to prevent them. Ifeel I'm in very capable and caring hands.
Dr. Murphy is one of several surgeons at Pacific Bariatric. Dr. Murphy seems to have the most experience with this surgery. They want to have successes only and therefore have a lot of pre-op and post-op dietary and life-style requirements. The first requirement is that you attend their free lecture about the surgery and the risks involved and the responsibilities of aftercare. He seems to really care about helping us recover and have a healthy life.
I really enjoyed my surgeon. He had a sense a humor that made me feel at ease. I did not see him a whole lot, but he did a great job. His staff is friendly and helpful. He does stress excerise once you are ready and toning as well as cardio. He went through all the risks of the surgery with me before hand. I would give him a 10 out of 10.
My first impression of Dr Murphy was wonderful. I felt so comfortable with him fromthe time he walked in the room. I loved how he made the visit personal by sitting at my level and patting me on the knee. He just made me feel so at ease with the whole thing. I knew I was in good hands. The staff at Pacific Bariatric is wonderful. They are all willing to help with questions. Anything you need to ask is welcome. The staff at the Surgeons office is cery nice and are so supportive. The nurse that weighted me at my post op visit almost cried with me! I would rate Pacific bariatric's (and Dr Murphy) 1-10 (10 highest) a 9. While no one is perfect, they are so close its wonderful!!!
