Dr. Gorospe is a kind man. He is in this practice to help save peoples lives. He knows that people are not obese for lack of trying to loose weight. He explained to me that this surgery is not a cure but another tool to help loose weight. If I follow all the directions, I will have good success with this tool that Dr. Gorospe is going to give me.

DR G. is a slightly built man, the strange thing is his ability to truly care about those of us 'extra' size people and his grasp of our side of the picture.
The staff is good, just verify that your info arrives before you do for surgery.
The staff and the support group are great for after care. He has a patient liason who has had the sugery and who is very enthusiastic.
Between the various pre opt evaluations, the pre-opt meeting, patient orientation, the required support meeting, most of the issues are covered.
I only saw Dr. G twice in the hospital, after surgery. Had I needed to see him more often, I had only to ask.
He uses SouthCrest Hospital. the staff there have the baritric beds, and all the right gear for your needs.
One note, after surgery, when you're mouth is dry and they offer you the swab, don't be shy about asking for it. Bewared however, someone needs to be there to give it to you, and the staff cannot be with you all the time. The hospital easily accomadates a guest in your room with a cot to sleep on. Take advantage of the resource as needed.
Thank God my Mom is retired. She was a godsend. That nothing by mouth is a royal pain.

He is absolutely worderful! Very kind, understanding and cheerful. His staff is super and I truly appreciate his meetings for us to discuss our fears and problems and to gain support from each other. I felt very informed, very effeciently looked after and wonderfully accepted. It was the first time I had ever not felt ashamed in a doctors office. He has done several thousand of these procedures and the physicians I know hold him in the highest regard technically and personally. I wish he weren't so busy so I could be scheduled sooner, oooh, kinda' selfish of me, but I am so excited to begin the first day of the rest of my life.

I have met with the surgeon for the consult only but I liked my first impression very much. The office staff was friendly and professional and answered questions tirelessly. I think the thing I liked the best about he and his office staff was that they answered all questions straight forward and very honestly. He explained the risk of surgery very well and offered to sit with each patient one on one in case any of us had questions. I think that his surgical competence and bedside manner make him worthy of my trust.

Dr. Gorospe is an absolute expert in gastric bypass. I felt totally comfortable with him & his entire staff. He always answers my questions or fears & seems to be very sincere to each patient. I must say that the wait to get in to see him after surgery was a nightmare! I waited almost 2 hours past my appointment time & felt rushed when I got in to see him. However, on my second followup, he had made a decision to see his post op patients every month for 3 months, then every 3 months after that (unless you were having complications). That was the best decision he has ever made. I got in & got to spend more time with him. He highly recommends going to his support group meetings every month & so do I. With the initial visit he was very informative & I would rate Dr. Gorospe right up there with the guardian angels!!

He was very nice. His office staff is very over whelemed by all they have to do it took 2 weeks of calling everyother day to get a call back with the information I needed. I had tried to call my insurance like they told me to and my insurance said only the doctor's office can check on progress until the claim is denyed.

Dr. Gorospe is a great surgeon that is very interested in pain control. After discussing/comparing the pain control methods of other surgeons and him, I found his methods were aimed more for relief for the patients. He utilized a Markane pump with medicine being dispensed in the incision site, along with a PCA, and the IV medication. He has support meetings once a month for Pre-op and Post-op patients to get answers to questions. Something that really suprised me was his stature. He is a small man but is deeply interested in helping obese people lead healthier lives. I have been completely satisfied with the care him, his office and the hospital administered.
