Dr. Gorospe has an excellent reputation. I don't think there is anyone else I would want to do my surgery. I think he could use more office staff; I seemed to have a little bit of trouble getting all the needed paperwork to my insurance company in time. He addresses the risk very well. I have started an e-mail support group for WLS patients in the Tulsa and surrounding area. His post op patients seem very pleased with him. If you are interested in joining, e-mail me, or go to www.egroups.com and join the tulsa_wlss_group list. You can also just send an e-mail to [email protected] and you will be automatically joined.

My first impression of Dr. Gorospe was that he was a very nice, intelligent man. He is compassionate, yet very upfront in his opinions. His office staff is remarkable and very easy to speak with about any subject. He meets with you in a group meeting the first time and then breaks into individual meetings in his office -- I liked meeting others who were about to undergo this procedure. He emphasized that the surgery is just a part of the overall plan. He and his staff have support groups. They also require a number of consultations, including a psychiatric visit, before surgery. He also discussed the risks thoroughly. I felt he was topnotch and I can't wait to have my surgery with Dr. Gorospe. This is my personal opinion and I would not presume to make judgements for other people.
8/10/01 - Dr. Gorospe's office staff is extremely helpful. Even when they are extremely busy, they have taken time to fax information I need for my insurance appeal and wished me luck.

My surgeon is the sweetest man - you can see the kindness and compassion in his eyes .
I am not too fond of his office staff...they are not friendly in the least...but he is such a good man/surgeon that I will put my fate and FAT...in his hands..Ha ha
Dr Gorospoe has provided us with valuable and very detailed information...I know what im heading for and im comfortable with the info that has been provided to me.
I would suggest Dr G to anyone..but he is getting so well known..that its getting difficult to get in to see him!!!

beside manner and surgical competence are equally important. DR. GOROSPE HAS BOTH
HE IS TRULY A WONDERFUL SURGEON AND MAN.

i was afraid at first of the whole idea of this surgery.dr. gorospe immediately put those fears to rest.he is so sweet and compassionate,so knowledgable and informative.he is very down to earth.the staff was great and very sweet as well.i loved everything about him.he is committed to seeing you through the rest of your life.he'll tell you that.he has a giant support group.his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.he's been doing this since the late 1970's.

I have heard so many good things about Dr. Gorospe and now that I have met him I understand why. He is a very gentle and thorough man with extreme knowledge. He has a very efficient office staff and Michelle, his nurse, is not only his nurse but was also his patient, so she truly knows exactly everything that you will go through from both points of view. He does expect you to go to his aftercare program both before and after your surgery which is something that I think will make your surgery as successful as it can be. Dr. Gorospe is right up front with the risks involved in this surgery that could happen but I am so encouraged by his ability through other people I have met that have had him as their surgeon, that I don't personally think there is much risk involved with him. My own personal opinion is that I know I have made the right decision to start a new life with his guidance as my surgeon!

This man is highly informative and sets aside an entire day per week just to offer a question & answer seminar for those interested in the surgery. There was no question too stupid or redundant and he even has a previous patient on his staff whose only job is to answer any and all questions before, during and long after the surgery process and she also sees everyone everyday during their hospital stay. I was also impressed with how far some of the patients had traveled to see him, many flying in from hundreds of miles. I know I will be in good hands.

I went to my first meeting tonight and was both excited and scared. My first impression of Dr. Katsis is wonderful. He seems very knowledgable on the procedure, went into great detail about the risks involved and how WLS is not for everyone. That was probably one of the things that impressed me the most. That and the fact that he said if we wanted someone with more experience in WLS, he doesn't have a problem referring you to someone more experienced and reputable in this field. He also emphasized the after care program a great deal. Overall, I was very impressed with the way he presented the facts and challenged you to make the decision that is best for you personally. The fear I guess just comes from the amount and types of complications you can encounter with this surgery. I'm still moving forward with my plan to have this surgery. Fear or not, I want my life back.

I could not have picked a better Dr. I am very confident with Him and all of his staff. He has support groups for post and pre op. There is no question that he will not answer for you. The staff is wonderful. They dont get uptight with me when i call and call for updates!! I really cant say that I have any negative things to say. I know that there is a follow up that is required but I am not sure exactally what it is. For anyone in Tulsa or surrounding area I know that you will be pleased with Dr Gorospe and his staff
