September 29, 2004 - I had Lap Band Surgery in Oxford, MS at Baptist Hospital with Dr. King. This is the "BEST" decision that I have ever made in my life... Dr. King and his entire staff are the greatest at everything they do... They will always do their best to make you feel like you are their only patient. I can just not say enough about how wonderful Dr. King is... Even though he only gave me the tool to change my life, he SAVED me... With his help and advise and of course "EXPERT KNOWLEDGE" this has been the easiest journey of my life...

I MET DR. KING SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN HE DID GALL BLADDER SURGERY ON ME. I LIKED HIM THE VERY FIRST MOMENT WE MET! HE GIVES IT TO YOU STRAIGHT UP AND ALLOWS YOU TO DECIDE IF THIS IS SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT TO DO. HE EXPLAINED THE RISK OF HAVING THIS TYPE OF SURGERY AT EVERY OFFICE VISIT. HIS STAFF IS INCREDIBLE! HE AND STAFF ARE THERE WITH YOU ALONG EVERY STEP OF THE WAY EVEN AFTER THE SURGERY. I PERSONALLY THINK HE IS THE BEST BUT THAT'S JUST ME! I WOULD TRUST HIM WITH MY LIFE ANYTIME!

During each office visit, Dr. King was very nice and knowledgable. He took the time to explain everything to me (both good and bad) and also answer all my questions. He really did not encourage or discourage me, but gave me facts and said they would do whatever I decided.

Dr. King's office staff were extremely nice and helpful.

I would have liked to know more about aftercare, but did not think to ask at the time. I'm sure Dr. King would have been glad to supply the information, had I asked.

Overall, I would rate Dr. King very good.

He is tall and striking. He looks younger than he is. His office staff is very busy. He explains the procedure and all the risk very well. If you have any questions he is more than happy to answer them honestly.
I have heard he is strict. Which I need strict. What I really care about is he's good and that I trust him. He believes that obesity is a disease as I do and that this is a tool to help. He also said most complications are from not following Doctors orders and doing what your suppose to. I believe this also.I feel I made the best choice. Let you know more after the surgery.
I have since had the surgery. May I just say this Doctor on a scale of 1-10 is a 20. He is good. He will always do what is best for you and very cautious.

I must admit I had already heard lots of great things about Dr. King before I actually met him. When I did finally meet him he surpassed those accolades by far.

He is very nice. He explains everything very clearly and asks you questions and does not mind how many questions you ask him. (I had typed pages with over 25 questions) He did not rush me at all, and I feel 100% confident in his abilities as well as his staff and Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.
My surgery went off without a hitch and my experience was superb, Dr. King and his staff and the staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital rate A+ in my book. I do not have any complaints at all.

A kind caring man.

My impression is the same he proved to me more that he cares about his patients.

The staff is wonderful they care as well.

Nothing. Everything I liked.

If you want someone who cares then you should pick him. I highly recommend him, he will make sure everything goes well. He always gives his best.

Strongly emphasizes on it.

Absolutely.

He told me all of them, which I already knew because of the research I did.

DR KING was polite and up front about the risk i have yet to have a problem with him or his staff. If you smoke stop or try to before you see him or he wil be on you .DR KING made me feel like an old friend I loved every visit because of this i drive almost two hours and past three or four hospitals to reach DR KING and his staff.I grew up in chicago next to loyala medical center ,one of the biggest most respected hospitals in the world.I would rather go back to the icu at oxford baptist memorial any time .they are that good .I was treated as family from the begining until i left .My sister is hoping to have the same surgery with DR KING and schedule so the same staff will be working at the icu unit at baptist memorial while she is in.I learned almost everything about DR KING and his staff including the care i should expect at baptist memorial from obesityhelp.com .and want to thank everyone who posted . reading your feedback helped change my life

My first impression of Dr King is that he wants everyone considering this surgery to understand that it will be a completely life-changing experience. There are risks, with bariatric surgery, just like any other. You will leave the first appointment with the knowledge of risks that you are facing with the surgery. He also makes you fully aware of complications that you either are facing or that could occur later on if you continue to remain obese. I like the fact that he doesn't sugar coat anything. I like that he is honest. He also takes the time to make sure you are fully aware of the procedure and what will take place. He struck me as a dr who is very caring and he has all the time in the world to answer any questions you might have. I haven't even had my surgery yet, and I would certainly recommend him.

When I first met Dr. King, he made me feel really comfortable. He set down and talked with me and made sure I understood the complications that could evolve with the surgery. He also made sure that my husband, since he was not able to come to the appointment with me, was fully aware of the steps I was taking. I really like that about him. Over time my respect for Dr. King and his staff has only grown. He has a tough love approach when need be, he let's you know that it is only for your well being. His staff has been nothing but helpfully throughout my recovery. No question is to minor, they will always be there to help you out. Dr. King has a strict aftercare program. He clearly lays out your eating, always warning to never advance your eating without Doctors permission. I would advice anyone looking for a bariatric surgeon to go and see Dr. King. He is very knowlegdeable and he gives you all the information, the good and bad. If I had to rate my care for Dr. King and his staff I would give them a 10 out of 10. I feel that this doctor and staff has both surgical competence and bedside manner, these are two crucial elements to have. Who wants a doctor who only cares about their abilities in the OR? I certainly do not, I do not want a doctor that could careless about my feelings. During my surgery Dr. King made sure that my family was informed of my condition throughout the surgery. He then sat down with them to answer any questions they may have about my recovery. I would recommend Dr. King to anyone thinking about Gastric Bypass.
