I found Dr. Aslam a very nice Dr. and very concerend about his patients.Dr. Aslams staff is very caring and at all times they are there to help you out and they are great at answering all questions that you might have. The after care was a great success. The surgery was scary and Dr. Aslam told of all the risk that are involved and it was help full to most questions, but I have learned that there are no question that is stupid and you really need to ask as many as you can so that your recovery is a good one and yes you go home scared and yes you get hungry but if you are not sure please ask all question that you need to. The help that was given at the hospital was great with all of Dr. Aslams staff and himself.

My impression was that he his a quiet kind man. My impresssion didn't change during the office visit. His office staff is great. What I liked best about him was that he didn't seem in a hurry. He took his time and answered any questions I had. He was very through about telling me all side effects and about the surgery. So far, I rate him 100%, I would highly recommend him.
Now, that I have had surgery, my opinion of Dr.Aslam is still, "He's a good Dr." He took all my side effects serious and provided great care for me. He always takes time with you and makes you feel you can ask him anything. His surgical skills and bedside manners were equally good. I would definately recommend him for all the surgeries that he does, not just the gastric bypass.

I met Dr. Aslam on 2-24-00 . My first impression was he was very sweet and caring. He anwered all my questions completely. The office staff is very pleasant and have alot of patients. I must have called the office every day to find out if they heard from my insurance. I especially like Jeanie Coltrin. She is a sweetheart and has a good sence of humor. They seem to have a very structured after care plan. They explained all the risks of the surgery to me and gave me a written copy of those risks for me to read that stated all the risks involved. I am very comfident in Dr.Aslam , I have complete faith in him, I know he will take good care of me in the operating room and the aftercare. I think he has had alot of experience in what he does, more than anyone else. I also know from previos experience (my fathers leg amputation) how dedicated he is to his patients. He has a great bedside manner and takes the time to expain everything to you

I was scared to go to my appt today, but it was
needless anxiety. Dr. Aslam is pleasant, professional
and patient. He willing answered my questions (the
few I could remember)and put me on the surgery
schedule. We throroughly reviewed potential risks of
surgery, and he encourages modifying eating habits and
exercise level before surgery.
Office folks/nurses, etc are all warm, friendly and
helpful.
I feel comfortable and confident about the prospect of
Dr. Aslam performing my surgery.

A few after-the-fact observations: Dr. Aslam is a very
skilled surgeon and has a wonderful reputation with the
surgical floor nurses; he is quiet, soft spoken, responsive,
and very focused on his patients' well-being both present
and long term; questions are answered clearly and succinctly(sp?);
I value him even more now than ever. Dr Aslam stays focused
on the goal of helping us use WLS as a tool in our goal of
a healthy weight and lifestyle ... I'd be foolish to spend
time wishing he joked around more or acted like more of a 'buddy'
to me.

I first met Dr Aslam for thorasic outlet syndrome. he seemed like a very caring man and did rush in and out, he did all the test and we then decided on that surgery. His caring went even beyond the care that I have experienced with other surgeons. He really does care.
His staff is always there to answer any questions that you have and will even call you if they haven't heard from you for a while. His staff knows who you are even when it has been a while since you have been down. I have never had to give my name when walking into the office.
The aftercare is one of the best that i have ever had. they keep in contact and want to know how you are doing. He dosen't just do the surgery and they tell you to go to your regular Dr. if there is a problem even a year dowm the road.
Dr. Aslam is one of the best surgeons that i have ever had to deal with and so is his staff.

I met Dr. Aslam when he removed part of my father's lung and thought that he was very nice and even encouraged my mother and us to ask any questions we had. And he would do his best to answer them even to the point of paging him after dad went home.
So when I decided to check out wls he was the natural choice.
His office staff is great. The first time I called Jeannie ( our own JC Maine) she was busy and they offered to send me to her voice mail, I hate voice mail and will hang up rather than talk to it when I said that I would rather call back later they told me to hold and would see how long she was going to be. Well the next thing I knew I was talking to her and scheduling an app.
At the app. she asked me alot of questions (some I was embarrassed about answering) then she calculated the bmi, it was like 44 but not knowing what it was I asked her if it was good and she said that as far as ins. approval went it was. I did not know if I should be happy or sad. Then she took me into another room and showed me a film or show something on her computer, that contained alot of information about the surgery and what to expect after and do's and don't and even the risks though rare she wanted me to know them. After the show she asked if I had any questions and gave me this website address and her e-mail address so if I had questions later I could ask her. I can honestly say that I have only called the office once and have e-mailed Jeannie many times. And she always answers.

This is for Jeannie who has asked me repeatedly to update my profile. Sorry it took so long Jeannie. I am now 6 months post op and have had very few problems. My most major problems right now are an intolerance to meats and hair loss both of which I can live with. I have lost about 90 Pounds so far and can not wait for warmer weather so I can get out and do more. I have so much more energy now than I have ever had before. I walk around in circles in the house just to use up the extra energy. I do miss cheeseburgers but I got so sick from eating beef I have no urge to try it again. I have no regrets about having had the surgery and would do it again in a minute. I can not wait to have the extra skin removed. I am so excited about the way things have gone for me.
For those who knew that my dad was also supposed to have the surgery. He had a heart attack in November which makes him unable to have the surgery for at least a year if at all. However he has been following all the doctors advise for his cardiac care and has lost about 60 pounds on his own. I am thankful that he is alright now and doing well. I am also thankful that I was able to do something about my weight before my health deteriorated as far has daddy's did. This should serve to show the insurance companies that if they do not stop making this a hassle that some people may very well die as a result of their delays. My dad is ok now but he very well could have died. And so could anyone else who is made to wait an unreasonable amount of time for the surgery we all hope will help us regain our health. Not all insurance companies are hard to deal with but let this be a reminder to the ones that are WE REALLY ARE DOING THIS TO IMPROVE OUR HEALTH AND NOT OUR LOOKS.

My first impression of Dr. Aslam was that he was thinking of more things about my case in one minutes than I could have processed in ten. He was very focused and seemed on top of things, despite the fact that his waiting room was overfilling with patients and his stress level MUST have been high.
The day after surgery he chased me down in the Ex-Ray department (when I was having my swallow test) to check on how I made out on my first night post-op. He was so kind. I don't know if it's a trick of nature or something really there, but when you look into his deep brown eyes you feel as if he's trying to look right into you, your own soul to figure out what's the best cure for you.
Dr. Aslam did not mind being paged at 2 AM on a Thursday night when I developed a reaction to roxicet. (At least, that is what the floor nurse told me! I was not keen about waking him up about a 'little itching" but she insisted that we get it fixed, that Dr. Aslam would WANT it fixed.)
Aftercare is stressed and always in flux. The paperwork I signed and read on my first
office visit in November has since been changed. I like that. The staff keeps on their toes.
The staff at Doctor Aslam's?? They are terrific!! Super cool!! The best. They knew I was getting totally hyped out when my surgery date changed too many times for my tastes and they fixed it. They fixed it PERFECTLY!!!
As my recovery progresses I will add more to this site. I'm only four days out of the OR.

He is a very quiet man. A man of little words.
He was sincere in what was to be done, and that
I had to follow all his orders if I wanted to
lose the weight.
My impression has not changed. He is a very
good surgeon, and he knows what he is doing.
He has the patients health care in mind, and
will make sure it is what the patient really wants
He has no patients for those who will not
follow his orders.
His office staff is great, espically Jeanie,
she's the nurse you have the greatest contact
with. She deals with the insurance on your
behave. She runs the support group.
The thing I liked least about him, was that he did'nt
talk much. He emphasizes aftercare very strongly
HE or Jeanie will get after you if you don't
do what you are told. The aftercare is very
structured. You are told in advance when you
are to be seen again, how often, and when
blood work is to be done.
He was very careful to address all surgery
risks with you and a loved one. Because when
you are the one is obese you tend not to listen
to the risks, because of the outcome you are
looking forward to.
I rate him as a surgeon/doctor A#1. He tells it like
it is, he pulls no punches.
His surgical competence is better than his
bedside manner, only because he is not much
for talking. He is not rude or dry or unlikeable
just doesn't talk much.

I haven't gone yet but I am very excited!! I have printed everything on the surgery all the way down to the diet afterwards. I just want to get the surgery done while I am still so excited. No I will never change my mind this surgery is a Have to for me.
Okay I had my first appt IT WAS GREAT!! JEANIE is SSOOO nice she made me feel so welcome. The office just makes you feel like home not like a normal dr office where the floor is tile and it is cold with no personality. I have all my screening set up and I can't wait to go to the next step. My BMI was 59 I weighed in at 357.

When i first met Dr. Aslam i thought that he was very cool and serious but as i got to know him he is a very caring Dr. and he really cares about his patients and there health . As far as his office staff go they are there for you from day one very supportive and understanding. There is nothing i can't say bad about Dr. Aslam or his staff. Just be honest with him and take good care of yourself. Dr. Aslam is really good about after care even if something doesn't feel right he checks it out no matter what i wish alot more doctors were like him and his staff. When you go in to see Dr. Aslam before surgary he will tell you what to expect and what can happen that is why he gives you all kinds of numbers to call and you get a packet on what to expect what to eat i feel that it is very thorough. I would rate Dr.Aslam in the top 20 he is very very good caring understanding . He has a fearly good bed side manner and i would trust him with my life which i have. I have alot of confidence in Dr. Aslam and i really feel that between myself.Ms.Colter and Dr.Aslam we have changed my whole life for the better and i am glad to be one of his patients and always will be
