He seems to be well informed and is very caring. He took as much time as I needed. Didnt rush me at all.

My initial consult was on 4/18/2002 at 10:30 a.m. I arrived early in order to fill out some paperwork and see the film that Dr. Alston requires all of his patients to view. His staff was very friendly and instantly put me at ease. As soon as I completed my paperwork I was wisked away to a room to view the film. The film (although dated) presented information regarding the gastric bypass sugery in a manner the was not only clear and concise but went further in the way of relieving one's fears (I think it would be a good idea to make a copy available to loan to new patients to take home and view with loved ones). I'll admit that I did have a brief wait to see Dr. Alston, however, considering I waited 6+ months for this appointment and have sought to have this surgery done for years, it was no problem. Dr. Alston has a very comforting and reassuring bedside manner and is excellent in the area of answering your questions. He never makes you feel as though you lack conviction or are anything less than a person who is concerned about your health. I made sure to have a copy of my medical records and a detailed account of all previous weight loss attempts in hand (I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HAVING THESE IN YOUR HAND A.S.A.P.). After a routine physical I was ready to head home and begin the long wait. I called Dr. Alston's office on 4/19/2002 and was told that everything was faxed to Cigna. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Alston. His staff is first class and he truly seems to understand what you, as a patient, are dealing with.

In my opinion, I have the best surgeon ever!! Dr. G.Philip Alston of Memphis, TN performed my surgery. He and his staff are the best. He is very attentive to all questions. He is very straight forward. Has a great bedside manner. He is a Christian. He basically allowed me to interview him!! I researched Dr. Alston quite extensively. I have not talked to anyone who has been dissatisfied with him! He is very down to earth. I saw him everyday that I was in the hospital. He took great care of me. He emphasizes follow-up treatment. His staff is very well informed about the surgery. They have a great working relationship and sense of humor. I would recommend Dr. Alston and his staff any day of the week!! I thank God for crowning him with wisdom and a will to be his instrument for this major surgery.

My 1st impression fo Dr. Alston was wondrful. I had already heard such great things about him. He really knows his stuff!!! He is extremely adament about pre-care, during care and after care. He took the time to devise a booklet in addition to ASBS booklet. He shows a video and explains in full detail. So there is no way you can sya he doesn't inform. He address and stressed the risk of all aspects. His office staff is wonderful. On my 1st visit I felt as if I had known them for years. And a wonderful sense of humor they have as well. This is a place I didn' mind being. He and his staff get big KUDOS from me. I just feel blessed that a cancellation came available for me. Otherwise I was going to be waiting to 2004. Yes he is that book since last September 2002!!!

My mother had gastric bypass surgery by Dr. Alston five years ago. She could only sing his praises. She loved his staff also. I found that she was right on the money. His staff worked with me in getting everything I needed to get approval through insurance. They even went as far as faxing them my whole chart three or four times. Insurance finally said this is exactly what I need. We had it in by that afternoon and I was approved the next day. They were very quick about getting me a date also. People have to understand that he has a waiting line, so be patient, they will do their best for you. My date is set for Jan. 14, 2003 and I am very excited. I just have to finish up with pre-op testing and I'm on my way. I feel that I am in very capiable hands.

Dr. Alston made me feel at ease from the first meeting. The staff and office was extremely busy but very friendly and efficient.

Dr. Alston and the entire staff presented all information in an understandable manner and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction.

The importance of aftercare is stressed and resorce information is provided.

Overall my experience with Dr. Alston's practice has been wonderful.

I had my consultation and everything went fine. I was very impressed with Dr. Alston, although he admitted that he was busier than he wanted to be. He was the only one in our area that is performing this procedure. He was completely informative and kind. I did not feel uncomfortable with him. He did say that because he was so busy, he would get me in as soon as he possibly could. Don't have a date yet.

Dr. Alston seems very nice. He his quite thorough with information. You must read a WLS book and watch a film before he sees you. His staff is GREAT. Diane and Marsha are very personable and have great follow-up skills. I don't know for myself yet, but from all that I have heard, he has a phenominal aftercare program. He tells you the good, the bad, and the ugly of the surgery.

I met with Dr. Alston on Jan. 7th.
He seemed to be a very nice person. Very laid back. He answered every question, I had without hesitation. The staff is very freindly. Everyone in the office is easy to talk to. And you don't have that embrasing feeling, thinking, I am<img src=http://www.gifs.net/animate/eles.gif>
