I had always had a weight problem and had yo yo dieted since I was a teenager. I had read about the surgery and decided surgery was for me. I have never regreted that decision. I met Dr. Capps and my first impression was he was very rigid and straight forward. After visiting with him I soon realized he was a very warm and caring individual. My first visit to the Bariatric Clinic in Wylie was a shocker. I actually could fit in the chairs in the waiting area and the rooms were very big and cool. The staff was very personable and helpful. Everything was explained in detail and they left no questions unanswered. The day of my surgery was on Halloween 2003! I went Trick & Treating and got a new life! When I arrived at the hospital I had fresh flowers (compliments of the hospital) waiting for me in the room. I have been in several hospitals and never had flowers waiting for me. My after surgery care was great. The nurse's were always there and I never had to wait on pain medication. Recently, I visited with Dr. Capps at his new facility in Mesquite and felt very comfortable. His staff is very personable and caring. Dr. Capps has always emphazied that aftercare was very important, so every year I make an appointment with him for a check up and blood work. Dr. Capps is the best!

I am very impressed by Dr. Capps. He came highly recommended by another surgeon. Dr.Capps seems very soft spoken, but very knowledgeable. i have read nothing but positive comments about him. His staff at the Turning Point is wonderful as well. Crystal has been great to work with and help walk me through the process and finding ways around some of the obstacles that I have encountered. I fully trust Dr.Capps and his staff to take care of me.

After care and lifetime check ups are stressed quite a bit. This is not an easy way out, but a tool to help you succed in the journey.

Currently, I rate him very highly. I don't expect my opinion of him to change after surgery, but will keep you posted!

I met Dr. Capps for my initial consult in January of this year. My first impression was that he was very knowledgeable and direct. He was very calming and seems to have a good bed side manner. He explained all of the pros and cons of having the surgery. He made me feel vey comfortable and answered any questions I had without hesitation. I was very impressed. Which is why I was upset, to say the least, when he was deployed! But, all is well and he has returned safely home (thank God) and will be back Monday. I am looking forward to him performing my surgery.

Update--Dr. Capps is the best. He is very cautious, but that shows that he really cares for his patients and he wants you to survive this surgery. I had little to no pain at the incision site. He did a superb job. Sadly, he will not be at BTC, so I will be going to Dr. Thrift for the aftercare. Dr. Capps will be starting a practice of his own and will be doing more than just Gastric Bypass. He said that if I have any surgery related problems to come and see him, but stay at BTC for the aftercare because he really believes in the program. Time will tell I guess.

My first impression of Dr. Capps was great. He is very personable. He has a bushy mustache that reminded me of Dr. Red Duke (in Houston). Each of my visits were extremely timely and never had to wait much at all. However, because Dr. Capps is in the reserves, shortly after my surgery, he was called to report for active duty in Iraq. However, at my 1 year appt., he was back in the office.
Dr. Capps' office were clean, cold and his staff was superb. At my initial meeting, he explained everything and answered any questions I had. He had an assistant on staff that had been through the surgery and was there to go through things and answer any of my questions and concerns. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I would rate Dr. Capps a 10. Regarding his surgical competence and bedside manner, both of his were great. I had no post surgical complications whatsoever.

Dr. Capps was wonderful. Very concerned about aftercare and follow up. He was very informative and very careing during my stay at BTC.

Dr. Capps is a kind and compassionate man. He is sypmathetic and yet, strong and nurturing. His bio states that he has past military trauma surgery experience. Somehow I found this strangely comforting. He greatly stresses aftercare....and has routine post surgical visits. He requires blood work to check various levels every three months post operatively. He has a no nonsense approach, and lays all the risks out there for discussion. I highly recommend Dr. Capps.

At first I thought Dr. Capps to be stale and unemotional. He was business all the way down to his toes. However, the day of my surgery I realized why. Dr. Capps needed to know that he had provided me and my family with the best information he could. He needed to know that I was informed and was making the right decision for me. The day of surgery he was like a big "Teddy Bear." My family just loves him and I can't even think about not having Dr. Capps in my corner. The staff at the Wylie Bartiatric Treatment Center was wonderful. They always ask if they could do anything or get you anything while you were waiting. They were great! Dr. Capps stresses that taking care of yourself after surgery is as if not as important as the surgery. Dr. Capps explained all the risks and benefits alike to me. I never looked back and after the first meeting with him my husband was also comfortable with the process and ready for me to have the surgery. I will always go for surgical competence, the bedside manner is great, but that is what you have your family and friends for. Bedside manner in a doctor is icing on the cake. I was lucky with Dr. Capps I got both.

I really like Dr. Capps. He is a military man and very thorough. He told me exactly what the surgery would be like and answered any questions I had. He made me feel very comfortable and that helped me realize I had made the right decision. He works with Bariatric Treatment Centers. I have researched them for 1.5 years and feel that I made the right choice. Bariatric surgery is all that they do. They focus on the overall health of a bariatric patient. They really encourage aftercare to help with the psychological effects of weight loss. I would give Dr. Capps and BTC and 10 out of 10!!
