Dr. Capps is a very wonderful surgeon who cares about his patients. He is to the point and tells it like it is. He lets you know all of the risks involved with the surgery, before, during and after. He takes a lot a steps before the surgery (i.e. cardiovascular stress test, pulmonary function test, upper GI, and blood work) to make sure the risks are nominal. I had a concern one night after my surgery. I called the doctor on call and it was him. I felt bad about calling him in the middle of the night but, he told me it is better to be safe than sorry. It turned out to be nothing. He even called me back a day later to check on me to make sure I was doing alright. I don't think I have ever had a doctor call me back, usually it is the nurse. It is so nice that he takes to time for his patients and has a great concern for their health and well being. I would highly recommend Dr. Capps to anyone wanting this type of surgery. The more I see him, the better I know and like him. He is definately a 10 on my list!

The only negative incounter I have had is with the staff. After surgery, I had an infection. I called and talked to Dr Capps personally and he said, that since I live in Austin, that if I have a physician that I trust, I could see them instead of making the 3.5 hour trip up to Wylie. I do have a physician I trust and saw her. She saw me on a Thursday afternoon and found that it was infected and gave me a prescription for antibotics. She also made sure that I call Dr. Capps and tell him what she found. I called and talked to the recipionist (not the regular Lisa, who is wonderful) and told her what my doctor said and she said that I needed to leave a message with Dr. Capps assistant, in which I did. I was very surprised that he didn't call me back, so I called again on Friday and left another message. Again surprised, no response. Well, on Sunday there was slight improved, but not like it should have being on antibotics for 72 hours, so I called the surgeon on call. It was the other surgeon and she said that I should come in on Monday to have it checked out. So, I went up to Wylie, they worked my in and I saw Dr. Capps. He confirmed it was infected and said that it was caught early enough so it was not that bad. I also told him of the above encounter and he said that his assistant was out sick and he would check into it and find out why it happened.

I haven't met Dr. Capps yet. My original doctor was Dr. Idhe. I called to schedule my surgery on Friday and was told it would be October, so I asked to go on a call list if anyone cancelled and she checked and luckily a date for Tuesday was scheduled.

My first impression of Dr.Capps was that he is very professional and very informative. he described the surgery to me and then answered al my questions. He was a very nice person as well. His office staff is very informed as well and made sure I new who I needed to speak with to get the information I needed every step of the process leading up to mu surgery date. They have all explained to me about the after care program and how important it is. The center thaqt my surgeon works out of has a very structurd after care program, I am finding out more and more about it as I go. Dr capps also went over the risk of the surgery with me, he was very up front and open about it, he didn't pull any punches so to speak. I think that is wonderful, I now have the information I need good and bad to know what is best for me and what I'm comfortable with. So far Dr. Capps and his staf and facility are great, I will update this as I go. I believe that surgical competence and bedside manner are important, and I am happy with both so far.

My experience was a good one. It was a long consult I was there about 4 hours but very informative. It was my actural experience with the facility when I had the surgery, everything from the surgeron to the nursing staff was great, I felt like I was treated like a queen, the rooms were amazing, the motivation and the over all quality of care was the best! I highly recommend The Wylie Bariatric Treatment Center to anyone. It is my belief that any of the surgerons would provide a great experience. I had several friends who have had the surgery and we all have different surgerons and we have all had the same thoughts about this facility. The whole team is great! You are not guessing what to eat or drink, what food will provide the right protein and such... They do it all, all you have to do is show up, they will get you approved and they will make sure that your process is sucessful. People listen up..... Its time to take charge of your life! You can do it! I know you might be scared but get the information, research and pray and then make your decision but I believe that this surgery is a gift to us from God because it can save your life! I was healthy no medical issues other than back pain, swelling and depression. So if I can do it then so can you! My prayers are with you and I am here if you need to talk!

Excellent Doctor. Spent time explaining everything.
Office staff was warm and friendly.

Dr. Capps was sitll a great doctor. The staff was excellent except this one male nurse on my second day. And when Dr. Capps found out he hadn't done what he wanted him to he chewed him out. Other than that one person everything was great. The first day out of surgery I had the most wonderful make nurse. He was by my side every few minutes making sure I was ok.

6/3/02 I had my first consultation with Dr. Capps. I felt really comfortable with him and the services offered by BTC. He went over the procedure with my thoroughly along with the risks and the benefits. I also had the chance to meet with someone who had the procedure done only 14 months ago at BTC. It was nice to see someone alive and well who underwent an open RNY. Now I just have to wait for insurance approval!

My first impression of Dr Capps was that he was very quiet, even though it was he that gave me my consultation (his helper was out of office. He was very pleasnt. Unfortunately I have only see or spoke with him that one time, but first impressions are always best right? *smile*

His assistant Shanta was very nice. Now she I know more about for it was her I delt with most. The only thing negative I have to say about Shanta was we played a lot of phone tag and she didnt return messages very well. I understand she is extremely busy and more than likely it seemed alot worse because I was anxious. So far my over all experience has been good.

I really dont know more at the time, but maybe I will after my PAT's on June 4th
