Robert Quinlin Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. Quinlain is a very nice doctor. My first impression of him was a very good one. He is very direct and to the point. His staff is wonderful and very supportive. I like his directness best about him. He takes a lot of time describing aftercare and the use of vitamins. He fully reviewed the risk of surgery to me in great detail. He even tried to talk me out of the surgery to see if I was truly ready for the surgery. I highly recommend Dr.Quinlain to anyone who is considering having the surgery done in Pittsburg,Pa. He did not have very good bedside manners but his knowledge and confidence in the surgery were all I needed.

When I first met the very thin Dr.Robert Quinlin, my first thought was "oh, no, he'll never understand me". But he was warm, gracious, and gave me good information (I had done extensive research on the web prior to my visit). I have yet to have surgery, so my opinion so far is limited to his pre-op manner. My only complaint would be the inability to find out from the office the status of my appeal for authorization. They keep telling me to wait patiently, but my health and knee deterioration does not wait.
UPDATE: The paperwork went through smoothly just like they said it would....but it still made me nervous since so many others seemed to have been rejected. It's hard when you need to arrange time off work, childcare etc. to dangle. The pre-op instructions are clearly written. I wish more info was given as to post-op diet. that info is a bit sparse. Maybe I'll get more at the hospital.

New Doctor is Dr Quinlin, Pgh, PA. He was the hardest of the three doctors that I interviewed with. He was the first one the I called but the last for me to get an appt. with. The way his office works is that you have to recieve an info pac with a diet and do's and don't after surgery and also a complete info pac on the gastric bypass surgery. After you've read that info you call and get an appt. First appt. he check you out and then he sends you for an UGI and tells you that after that test comes back he'll see you again cause he states that not everyones stomach is the same and that some you can't do the surgery on. I thought he was a nice man, my husband talked to people in the waiting room and was very impressed with His work. Second appt he tlks about surgery and sets date. He is very nice and has a great bedside manner so far. Will update after surgery. Dr. Quinlin was a God sent. Had many complication and no matter when I needed him he was always available to me. He returned all my calls and even didn't leave me when he was suppose to be off on a holiday weekend but still came to see me every day and show true concern for me. I spent 3 weeks out of the first 6 weeks post-op in the hospital and if it wasn't for him there cheering me on and telling me that all will work out I think I would have given up. I would recommend him to everyone and I have. I was going to go to another Dr and A friend went with this dr and it was a nightmare for her. I'm very glad that I went to him. Great Doctor!!! Nice Office Personal!!!!!

Dr. Robert Quinlin... Very knowledgable, not real talkative but very eager to answer any questions you may have. After my procedure I had him paged on a Sunday AM, he returned my call within 10 minutes. He and his staff have always made themselves available to answer any questions or concerns. Always returned my calls whether pre-op or post.
