My first visit with Dr. Stellato was very brief. At the time, I didn't think I was going to qualify for the surgery as I was barely 100 lbs overweight; however, my comorbidities were significant. I didn't follow-up after my first visit with Dr. Stellato due to the death of my sister-in-law. I didn't believe I was emotional stable to proceed with the surgery. Almost a year later, I found myself back at Dr. Stellato's office. I started attending several support group meetings and meet several patients who went through the procedure. I found the support group meetings to be very informative and helpful. Between the support group meetings and consultations with Dr. Stellato, I feel extremely informed on the risks and benefits of the procedure. Dr. Stellato is very strict about loosing weight prior to the surgery and not gaining a pound back prior to the procedure. His support staff is outstanding. They have been very helpful in filing my insurance appeal. I don't think I would be happy with choosing a surgeon at a Bariatric Clinic as I would have to travel 4 hours just for an appointment. After meeting several patients of Dr. Stellato together with my physician's referral and the fact that University Hospitals of Cleveland is one of the finast hospitals, I am confident that Dr. Stellato is extremely qualified to complete the surgery.
