He was very kind, direct and professional.
His direct to the point attitude was difficult to swallow at first, but that may have been what made me really take a look at how I was living my life and not taking care of myself.
He remained the same and continues to be that way.
The office staff are very nice and helpful.
To future patients, you can expect good care.
The Dr. and his staff are very helpful and really emphasize after care. They answer all questions and gave me handouts or after care. examples of stages of food to eat. I could not fail.
He and staff were very direct about risks or complications.
I would give him and his staff a great overall rating. They are there to help. As with any human being people do get cranky or have bad days, but I do find the to always be professional.
He and his staff are competent and have a great bedside manner. He even has a good sense of humor that I hardly ever find with a MD.

At the time of my surgery Dr. Ehrlich was in a legal tussel with his former partners brothers Floch and Floch. He had left their practice and started up his own.
I picked Dr. Ehrlich because:
1) A friend at work had surgery performed by him (after much research);
2) Everyone I spoke to said he was the best surgeon in the area. This included a number of doctor firends I play tennis with and work with him at Norwalk Hospital.
One week prior to my surgery a legal injuction was issued that prevented him from performing surgery at St. Vincents. So my surgery was delayed a week and was done at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT.
I will state at the outset that I believe he is an excellent surgeon, that his surgery was professionaly and well done. However, everything else about the experience sucked. I caught Dr. Ehrlich in three lies: a) He never mentioned the legal hassles (lie of omission); b) When the injunction was handed out down he called and left a message (which I still have) that said he was going away on an emergency and the surgery had to be delayed (a lie of fact); c) he said the cost of the surgery at Griffin hospital would be $5000 less, in fact it was the same cost (a lie of expectation). I haven't been lied to like that since I was a kid.
In hindsight I should have simply waited several months for Dr. Ehrlich to get settled in his new practice. It was fairly obvious that I was simply a cash cow. A self pay patient with cash, and they would do everything they could to get my cash and to heck with anything that go in the way.
I'm hoping that now that my surgery is done my experience will improve. However, Dr. Ehrlich will still be distracted setting up his new practive (he has already changed offices twice--and he told me directly he will be creating a bariatric practice at Griffin Hospital with two New York surgeons).

There is nothing better, when you're having surgery, to know that your doctor is always looking out for you. In the case of Dr. Tim Ehrlich, he was always looking IN on me, too. I had some minor difficulty post-operatively which required that I stay in the hospital for four days instead of the expected overnight. It seemed that every time I opened my eyes from my dozing Dr. E was there at my bedside, checking to see how I was doing, how I was feeling, and reassuring me that none of what I was going through was unexpected, and that everything would be fine in a couple of days. That reassurance meant the world to me, especially when I was going through my few moments of doubt about whether I had made the right decision.
"Nice" is a grossly underestimated and underappreciated word these days, but Dr. Ehrlich and those who work with him epitomize the word. It's always a joy for me to interact with people who are genuinely nice, not just putting up a front.
Dr. Ehrlich, and everyone on his staff could not have been better to me. At no time, no matter what the question, did I ever feel like an imposition. I know, without a doubt, that I can contact them at any time and get a prompt response. I have had other doctors in my life - several, unfortunately, that never gave me that feeling. That never happens with Dr. E and his staff. My questions, no matter how mundane, were always answered quickly and in the most friendly manner possible.
Additionally, the fact that he makse support groups available to his patients is a great boon. It's great to just sit with other people - recent post-ops and veterans - and listen to their experiences and know that what I am going through has happened before with others. To be able to ask questions or ask for suggestions and know that the voices of experience are able to provide them, freely and willingly. I look forward to being able to do the same for the patients who come behind me: paying it forward.
UPDATE, September 2013: As I approach the 10th anniversary of my surgery, I am still maintaining at 170+ pound weight loss, am off all my meds and have had all co-morbidities expect osteoarthritis disappear. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. !

My first impression of Dr. Ehrlich was this cool collective guy just weighing me in, it wouldnt be till the seminar started I would learn he was the one I wanted as my Surgeon.rnMy impression has changed because he is no longer this cool collective guy, he is MY Surgeon and MY friend.....But still same cool guy LOL....The office staff at Ehrlich Bariatrics are wonderful....Becky, Erika, Nicole, Kevin they are all wonderful and they always go out of there way for you. There always smiling when you walk in the door. There isnt anything I dislike. He is everything you can possibly want or need in a Surgeon. He will alwasy put your needs first and he cares...He cares for his patients to a fault. If you are considering bariatric Surgery, Dr. Ehrlich is the one for you.....There is no such thing as a stupid question, he will answer everything you ask him. There was a period of time when I didnt come back to the office cause I thought my band may be working fine except I was making bad food choices, come to find out I had way too much fluid in my band and so I needed to take some out but he told me now that I was back he was staying on me to make sure I kept coming back. Going back for your follow ups is what keeps you on track...I know that now....He gave me everything and when you meet Dr. Ehrlich he doesnt throw any punches he gives it to you straight, Gives you all the pros and the cons...and he leaves it up to you, definitely NOT a pusher.....I would rate Dr. Ehrlich as a 100.....I will recommend him to anyone thinking about weight loss surgery. He really changed my life, I still have 60 to go but I know I will get there....When you are having surgery Surgical Competence and bedside manner go hand in hand...Dr. Ehrlich posses both of these along with compassion and integrity..HES THE BOMB!!!! I know I found the perfect doctor and surgeon to take care of me....I wouldnt change him for anything.......They tell you to make sure you add the negative cause there is no such thing as perfect but I havent experienced imperfection from Dr. Ehrlich and I have been with him for 3 years now. I would NEVER change!!!!

Dr Ehrlich is very upbeat about the surgery and changes it makes. He's very caring with a wonderful bedside manner. What I like best about him is he really cares about his patients, how they do, how they are feeling. I get the same energy from his wonderful staff. He emphasizes both before and after care. He has a team set up with any kind of help you need. I'm so glad he waas recommended to me, I don't know if I would have done as well with another surgeon. He doesn't hold back the risks, he was honest and up front about the risks. As far as his surgical skill I was up and doing laps around the recovery room, he was fantastic. I experienced some sorenesss but never any real pain. And again his bedside mannner is second to none. I would rate on a scale of 1-10 Dr Ehrlich is a 12.

My first impression of Dr. Ehrlich is that he is a very busy surgeon. I sometimes felt very rushed during our brief pre-op appointments. However, he has supportive staff members that are there to answer all my questions and concerns. The Patient Advocate, Kevin Bessette, worked diligently to assist me in getting insurance approval for my procedure and always returned my calls in a timely manner. In my opinion, Dr. Ehrlich has excellent surgical competence. I had very, very little pain and felt great after surgery. (Please remember that every patient and surgical experience is different). I am very happy with Dr. Ehrlich as my surgeon. I look forward to seeing him and his staff for my post-operative care.

Very personable and down to earth, easy to relate to.rnSurgical competence is ofcourse number one, but having a good bedside manner is also important. The patient feels able to talk more openly I feel.rnDr. Ehrlich always made me feel like he always had to time to talk and never felt like I was bothering him with all of my questions. Also a fantastic sense of humor.

My surgeon is quite experienced in Lap Band surgery. I was able to get an appointment easily and his staff helped me get through the pre-op protocol swiftly. His practice does set you up with everything you need to be successful. Dr. Ehlich left for vacation immediatey after my surgery (I was aware that he was leaving). His partner, Craig Floch, took over and was fantastic. When I had my breathing problem, he was right there in the ER to comfort me. Dr. Floch was in contact with the vacationing Dr. Ehrlich. If I had it to do over, I would not have surgery on the day before my surgeon is going on vacation or the day before a major holiday (Christmas). rnI continue to receive good care and attention as a post-op patient. Dr. Ehrlich is opening several new offices to accomodate his patients who have to travel long distances for appointments. I am impressed with the experience of everyone at the offices.

He is an excellent surgeon and to me he is very easy going from the beginning when i meet him at the seminar he explained everything to me .And his staff is also great too i hope they keep up the good work and i just want to say a special thank you to dr ehrlich and kevin .thanks alot for putting me on a path to a new beginning.
