Barix Clinics (NW Suburban Com. Hospital) Hospital
This facility is very well equiped to handle Bariatric Patients. Everything from oversized chairs and beds to a facility that specializes only in this surgery. There was alot of commradere and support from other patients as well. The one thing I noticed with the staff was that they were very attentive the first day out of surgery and then it tapered off each day accordingly after that making each patient more independant and ready to leave on time. Overall I feel this was a great facility for this surgery.
An excellent place to have the RNY procedure done. This is all they do at the hospital, and so are well versed in what the post-op care is to be for us. With the exception of one nurse, the staff was outstanding in caring for me. The hospital beds were the only thing unsatisfactory (very uncomfortable), but everything else was top notch. Would definitely recommend this hospital as a place to have RNY done!
I had a very good experience. Being a nurse I know that I am more picky than the average person. I did get very upset when a cna told me that my iv was fine when I knew it was infiltrated. It was the classic signs, pain, swelling discoloration at the site. I blew a big fit and finally after a short time I got to see a nurse. I think they rely heavily on their cna's. There is a nursing shortage and unfortunately I think they could have used another one on staff.
overall the hospital staff was great the room i was in was very small for 2 and we had 1 tv 1 phone for both and this did cause some problems - when you have this surgery and can not move verywell it is hard to go to the phone when it is at the other persons side.we only had one good chair for both to share so if i wanted to sit i had to wait a lot of the time.
I have nothing but good things to say about my stay at this hospital. Everyone was kind and caring. All of the staff was there to help. My call light and requests were responded to quickly. I had nausea the first day or two because of the anasthetic and all of the staff went out of their way to help me. The nurses were great about asking if you needed anything, even after the PCA was gone they would come in regularly and make sure you weren't having pain. What a great staff. It is a 4 and 1/2 hours drive for me but I have already recomended it to my sister.
