Barix Clinics (NW Suburban Com. Hospital) Hospital
They are growing too quickly and don't have the facilities to handle the patients that have surgery. I was in a "private" room which shared a bathroom with the room next door. Whenever I needed to use the bathroom, the "hat" (to measure urine output) was usually still left in from the last person and I had to call a nurse to remove it. On my third day, a new post-op patient was added to my room. The bed she was in had no controls to raise any parts of it; there was only one "guest" chair; there was only one nightstand; there was only one phone. Since I was more mobile, if the phone rang I answered it, and had to get it over to my roommate if it was for her. Plus, we now had 3-4 people sharing the bathroom and needing the "hat" changed. I had problems with my IV alarm sounding when the line became constricted. I would often have to wait 10-15 minutes for a nurse to come and fix it, so I learned how to do it myself. Surgery was June 2001; I have heard things are even worse now.
