Barix Clinics (NW Suburban Com. Hospital) Hospital
From checkin to checkout the staff was great! They were considerate, understanding, supportive....it did not seem to me that there was anything they would not do to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The hospital though small is clean and well taken care of. I really enjoyed the felling that everyone knew and cared about all that was going on.
I liked how on each shift there was someone on the floor who had had the surgery previously. That person made sure to come in and talk with you and share before and after photos.
My pain came mostly from back spasms and they were very good about asking about my back and making sure I got the muscle relaxers every 6 hours to keep me in minimal pain.
I was very pleased with everyone's friendliness and willingness to help in any way.
It was clean, the nurses were friendly, they walked you, they made sure you were taken care of, both myself and my husband liked the hospital. The hospital was not overly large, but yet full of alot of wonderfull, caring nurses and some had already had the surgery and some were scheduled to have it.
I must say that this is the first surgery I had since I had my tonsils out back in 66 at the age of 3. I have nothing but great comments to say about this hospital. They were not full (only about 7 people) and the attention was wonderful. They were concerned about any pain I had and gave me ice, water etc... when asked. One paitent had surgery late in the afternoon and the family was there until well past 1 am, the staff did not say anything. My family came from out of town, and my father was so impressed with the hospital and staff that when he wasn't feeling well while here, wanted to go to the hospital, since I got such great care.
My hospital stay was so pleasant, except for one night nurse who was a witch and my room was like a freezer. I complained constantly about how cold my room was, even the nurses stated that my room was like walking into a deep freeze, but it was never taken care of. The only complaints I have is the one nurse and that they did not move me to a warmer room. All the other nurses were exceptional...they went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and I actually felt at home there. I did not feel like I was on display, as I am sure I would have felt at any other hospital that did not devote all their time, to this type of surgery. I would recommend Northwest Community to all who are thinking of having this surgery.
