The only negative comment I would make would be that the hospital is in desperate need of a new paintjob, new furniture and updated recovery chairs.

The nurses were absolutely wonderful!!! A few had the surgery themselves so they knew exactly what you were going through. I never felt like I was bothering them. The hospital itself is small which I like. Also, there not that many people there because of the holiday (Thanksgiving). I got to have my own room and whenever my family and friends came in there was more than enough room for everyone. Thank you BTC!!

I LOVED the staff of nurses at this hospital. They are so attentive and helpful and caring. I never once felt like I was bothering them or being a pain in the behind. The only reason I gave a few average answers to the survey was because my roommate was having some complications and was making it really hard for me to catch some sleep when sleep was available. If they would have had a private room available this experience would have been 100%, instead of 90%. I also noticed the staff is ver encouraging and very good at educating about side effects etc. When I was complaining about doing the breathing excersizes and the aspirator (yuk) they explained to me the complications that could occur if I did not do the reccomended excersizes. Once I understood the severity I never complained again. Thanks BTC, I will celebrate May 9, 2003 as my second birthday. The day I chose to be reborn.

I would recommend anyone to this hospital for WLS. The staff there is wonderful. They excelled in caring for me
and went above and beyond my expectations. The staff knows how to do their jobs and my stay was great.

Overall, it was well worth it. Dr. Schlesinger is an amazing surgeon. The process was streamlined very well, and I would recommend BTC to anyone considering WLS.

I was very impressed with Northwest Suburban Community Hospital. When I arrived before surgery I was taken to the room that would be mine for the duration of my stay. (Actually it turned out I was moved to another room the day before I came home due to a sewage problem). It was a little weird that I had to walk to the pre-op area but at some point someone came and took the bed out of my room and brought it to the recovery area. I was brought back to my room in my own bed so I didn't have to transfer once I was back in my room. The hospital staff was wonderful. They responded quickly to every need and were very encouraging. They offered positive feedback to motivate me to do my breathing exercises, coughing and walking. The nursing staff first explained how to get myself adjusted in bed, then helped me do it so I had minimal pain. Everyone was very professional about making sure I was covered when walking in the halls. Even the young man that took me to xray for my swallow test took time to make sure my gown was tied in back before we left my room. I had my surgery at a time when the census was low so everyone had a private room and bathroom. This may also explain why the nurses were able to take as much time with me and responded to my needs as quickly as they did. The hospital has very liberal visiting hours and were very accomodating to my visitors. Everyone, including the doctors commented on my Winnie-the-Pooh slippers and an adorable stuffed puppy my minister gave me. I thank God I do not have to go through this surgery again, but if I did I would definiately choose Dr. Boe and this hospital again!

I found the NWSCH was very pleasant and accommadating. A lot of the staff are former patients. It is very reasurring to meet some one who has gone through it and is doing well.

I would recommend this hospital. It is small but has the necessary equipment to handle any emergency that would occur. You do not feel like cattle being run through.
