The only problem I had was on my second night with a new nurse and she made me feel like crap for asking for pain medicine. She gave it to me but made me feel like I was putting her out.

I did receive a tray for a diabetic liquid diet instead of one for a gastric bypass patient - it included ginger ale and full strength juice - fortunately I caught the error....

I would like to elaborate on the poor rating for pain. For the majority of the visit it was good, but when I first arrived to my room after the surgery, I wasn't put in the system yet, so they couldn't release pain meds until that happened. The first evening, no one would let me walk, so I had excruciating pain in my back all night. On my last day, the morphine pump & pain injections were discontinued (which would have been fine), but when I requested my pain meds (at the time I was instructed I could request it) it took 1.5 hours before I received them due to a computer error. By the time I recieved it, I was crying from the pain and it did little assistance. Luckily, my surgeon came by and requested a shot of pain meds to help me with the ride home. It worked like a charm.

I find our hospitals to be more than adequate in providing care to the communities they serve. We have the finest nurses (We are a Magnet facility) and the finest physicians that work for the greater good of all patients as a team.

I really liked how kind the staff was. I only had one bad experience with one nurse, she was middle aged and I guess she was just burnt out. she didnt seem to care about my questions or how I felt. the rest of the stay was very good considering the pain I was feeling

The Nurses on 5 West Were AWESOME! Jennifer was my day nurse and I could not have asked for one better !!! They made sure I was alright, but didn't bug me !!!
