I'm so glad I gave Southcrest another chance after my initial disappointment with the Upper GI series. The Bariatric Floor nursing staff and all the doctors are TOP NOTCH! They deserve the best!

I was prepared for the worst, because I heard a lot about nursing shortages, and to expect delays with medicine and service, but I received excellent care. I did have someone stay with me 24 hours a day during my stay. This particular hospital has an entire floor especially suited for bariatric patients.

I had a very good experience and was very pleased, except for one nurse. She was horrible. Joann, the one rough spot in an otherwise smooth journey!

The only negative thing I can think of was the food distribution. You got 3 meals a day but you couldn't eat all of it at one time. A gastric by-pass patient needs about 6 small amounts a day. Also, apple juice would have been better than the juice they served.

The nurses who prepared you for surgery were like family. The only thing that could use improvement is the thin beds that they have. My back was killing me.

Southcrest is an excellent hospital. They have a gastric bypass wing. I spent the first night on another floor, but was moved to the gastric bypass wing the next day. The staff was excellent (especially Steven and Kathy). The only complaint I have is that there is no scale to weigh yourself on before you leave on the entire floor. I'm sure that's probably already been addressed. Wonderful hospital.

Timotha, a night nurse there is exceptional. She was very caring and compassionate! A+ for her. The stay was OK, it is a new hospital and very clean however I think they are too busy on the bariatric floor for the few nurses. They need additional staff.
