Southcrest Hospital Hospital

the hospital I would have selected for all mine and my families care they have been good to me this experience was sorta both i had good nurses and some nurses that simply needed to be fired but ill keep my opinions to myself as I to will be a nurse soon.
the pre op , or registration where great just some of the ICU nurses sucked

When I came out of ICU 12 hours after surgery I didn't see a nurse in my room between the hours of 10a and 7p. I called but didn't get any response. I had a fever and had to get up and walk to the nurses station to ask them to take my temp. After 7p I had good nurses but they never once advised me to what to be doing. Luckily I brought the sheets of instructions for after surgery that my doc had given in pre-op. Not one nurse ever asked if I need help out of bed. My husband and a friend helped me out of bed to the bath room and to walk. My complaints about pain weren't taken seriously and 36 hours after surgery I finally got someone to check the morphine pump and sure enough I had not had any morphine for 36 hours.

I only have one complaint and that was with a particular male nurse. He was going to redo my IV for the 3rd time and I asked him if it was going to hurt because he was putting way up on my arm where I never had one before and he asked me, "How old are you?" very snotty. He acted like we were paining him everytime we asked him for anything, luckily I only had him for one night.

I was a little disapointed with the staff, they didn't encourage me to get u and get going. Since I am a nurse myself, I knew I had to get going to recover quiker! It took 1 hour to get
something for nausea after surgery. That is something you just dont mess around with!!! I just felt like I was pretty much on my own. Thank god my husband was there at my side to help me the whole time.
