12 years out and gaining weight
I had the gastric bypass 12 years ago without any complications. Now I am gaining weight and I don't get that full uncomfortable feeling. I don't want a revision since I only need to lose about 30 pounds. So I've joined a gym in which I attend daily doing cardio and weights. I've also cut my carbs and sugars from my diet. I hope the old fashioned method works and I keep my motivation.
Sounds like you are being pro-active, that is great. There is a post on here M-F called "What are you eating today RNYers?" it will help give you ideas. Remember protein first then veggies. Drink your water...the basics :)

Thanks NYMom! This is exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted to double check the basics because it has been so long. Now my body acts like surgery never existed so its time for me to follow the basic rules. I never followed the rules before but the weight still fell off. Now I have to work on it. Thanks so much. I posted new pictures showing my current weight.
Oh yeah. I am coming up on 6 years and regained 35 lbs. or about 1/3 of my total weight lost...most of it regained in the last 15 months.
I have gone back to basics on my eating plan and it is paying off - so far down 20 of that 35 lbs. It is slow, but steady. I work with a dietitian because the accountability helps me greatly - but the eating plan is exactly what we know: high protein, veggies, a little fruit, no refined carbs. (I am allowed to have bread on occasion but rarely indulge.) No sugar. Limited caffeine.
The hardest part for me is building exercise back into the daily routine - my work schedule has amped up considerably, or that's my excuse for now.
Be patient, but be aggressive in changing your eating, and you WILL be okay!
It's wonderful that for 12 years you were able to maintain your weight without much effort. Now you just need to do a little work. Perhaps you need to weigh and measure your portions to be sure how much you are eating. Cut back a little, up your exercise, and you will lose the weight.
You can do this!!

You are exactly right. I've been out of control for a while now and I liked my weight gain until all my clothes begin fitting too snug and then not fitting at all. I'm challenging myself however with the right foods, cutting sugar, carbs and my other food temptations. I'm Aldo eating more fruits and fresh veggies. Exercise is also within my daily routine. The other thing that I'm doing is using my support group which is this cite. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to do this and if I can anyone can!
