Nifty! I always love these sorts of posts. Reflection is fantastic for motivation. I am most thankful for my ability to grow and learn every day. Without this, I could never understand or progress in my weight loss and learn about my body, heart or mind. I am most thankful for my ability to conquer anything, when I put my mind to it. I am most thankful for my ability to love and listen to those around me. I feel it allows me to connect to the world.I am most thankful for those around me who care enough to be honest with me. I know anything they say is not in spite or cruelty, but out of love and compassion, concern and encouragement. Even if it doesn't seem that way at first. Have a good one all! - Submitted by sionnaingeal |

I am thankful for the loving family that I have and I am most thankful for the love and support of my husband and for each and every day that I have to spend with him. My husband was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain two years and seven months ago. After brain surgery and surgery to remove part of his lung, and extensive chemo and radiation treatments, I am happy to say that he has now been two years and two months cancer free. In May of this year, he had a mild stroke as a result of all the radiation to the brain but again survived with minimal side effects. I am thankful that he is still here and healthy! I am also thankful that I will soon be healthy as well to enjoy all of our days together. - Submitted by DeborahH |

I am Most thankful for my faith - it has completely changed my life. I am thankful for my children, they bring untold joy to my life. I am thankful for a husband that has stuck with me through endless crisis's and enduring the many changes from teen to an old broad. 30 years with one person can be a little tedious at times but don't tell anyone I acknowledge that. I am thankful for the support found here and the many amazing women I have met over the past few months. Friendship - that is an awesome gift and I am thankful for each and every friend in my life. They have carried me through some pretty tough times and never let me fall. - Submitted by momtothree |

It sounds strange, but with a year of healing and losing 113 lbs, I am thankful that I lost my very high stress job last November. I'm not sure I could have been as successful working my weight loss tool if I was under the same amount of stress, flying all over the place for my job and taking part in all of the late night business dinners!I'm blessed that I was able to find another, less stressful job AND have Lap-band surgery. It saved my life and my sanity! |

Happy Holidays, What am I most Thankful for this holiday season? My loving partner of almost 20 years who has been with me through thick and thinner. Being able to be "present" and appreciative in my children's lives with joy and gratitude. Enjoying the feel of moving with energy instead of drudgery in my daily life, which has only happened because of the weight loss I have been able to sustain using my tool, the lap-band. I am thankful for... Every day that I have to spend with my mom and sister and for all the support they have given me throughout my life. The Dr. who discovered such a wonderful surgery (the DS) that will allow me to live my life to the fullest and still let me eat like a more normal person and still lose weight and become healthier. Dr. Greenbaum, the wonderful surgeon who preformed my DS that will let me live the rest of my life to its fullest potential. And for making a decision to have the DS that led me to meet such wonderful people who I will never forget because they have done so much to help me. - Submitted by yex1 |

Ok, this is a good exercise. Well not to go all "church lady" on you but I am thankful first and foremost for my God and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am in my 30's and just beginning to crack the surface of what Christ's sacrifice means in my life. I am thankful for my family and especially my children. That God could put such powerful sources of love in my life makes me think I am worth something even on my downiest days. I am thankful for the opportunity to help others through my God-given vocation of writing. I am thankful for the opportunity to tell my story to others so that they may find some information or inspiration from it. I am thankful for my Obesity Help community for keeping me grounded, sane, active and accountable. And I am thankful for Kathy S. for continuing to inspire us all! - Submitted by Cleopatra_Nik |

When I read this post topic, I was reminded of a quote by writer Melody Beattie: "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend." I am most thankful for an attitude of gratitude, for with it, I'm thankful for everything--the major, the minor, the significant, the insignificant--and everyone. - Submitted by marylaw |

I'm very grateful for my family... especially my beautiful 27 year old daughter Danielle. She is the best thing I ever did, and I'm grateful every day that she is happy, healthy, smart, independent, and successful. (I know I'm her mother, but she really is all that and more!) I am SO grateful for having the opportunity to have RNY surgery. Now the image of myself that I used to have in my head, matches what I look like on the outside. I feel like I did 20 years ago! The gift of health is one that I never take for granted, and I feel so good now compared to just nine short months ago. I'm so happy that I am an OH group leader, and believe that I help others to grow, and stretch, and believe they can do things they never thought possible before. It makes me so happy to see the joy on someone's face when they try something new, and love it! Knowing that I helped in coaxing them on, helps me to feel useful, and that I'm having an impact on other people’s lives. I've also made so many new friends through the group and OH that have made my life so much happier. I'm exceedingly grateful for my friends, new and old, who I would be lost without. They are my anchor, my "soft place to fall" to quote a famous phrase, and like family to me. And lastly, I am very grateful to live in a wonderful country (Canada), where there are endless opportunities, freedom, and peace. I love to travel so much, and have been over much of the world, but I am always happy to come home, back to what is familiar; my home, my family, and my friends. - Submitted by investigator77 |

I am extremely thankful for my wonderful husband and children and my sister Karen and bro in aw Bill for all their support and love and kindness through everything I have gone through during this surgery and subsequent issues. I am even more thankful for the friends I have made on this site. You have been there through sickness and emotional strain and proved yourselves to be of the utmost comfort and support. Always there to give advice to better my healing and eating. Always there to? woot woot? on my weight loss and most of all the love and hugs everyone on here gives. I honestly believe without this OH site I would have had allot of worse issues during this surgery. My Dr. couldn't find what was wrong, but through all your advice and my trying each thing you said, we finally found a way to make my four month vomiting issue end. So, I am thankful for so very much. I do have to say I am also thankful for my most excellent Dr., Dr. Mc Garry who has supported me through all this and even was the one to approach me to get this done. (He also made it one of his requisite that I had to join this site lmao.) I am thankful that I have lost 121.4 lbs so far and have so much more energy. I barely could walk to the bathroom and now I am doing Judes Exercise Challenge and walk a mile a day. Last year I would have died laughing if you told me I'd be where I am now. I am so thankful for so much........... - Submitted by ElizabethsJourney |

Things I'm thankful for: 1. God and all of the blessings that I've been given. 2. My health. 3. My wife, family and friends. 4. To live in a country where I'm free. 5. My education, career, and prosperity. 6. My intelligence and common sense. 7. Long underwear...I'd be freezing and miserable without it. 8. To be so handsome and charming....just kidding. My wife and I've had such a good year. We had RNY in April and have done so well. I've lost 145lbs and she's lost 103lbs. Saturday Nov. 7th we're doing our first half marathon. She's gone from a size 22/24 to a size 6. I've gone from a size 58 to size 40, and still losing. We're off our blood pressure meds. We're no longer pre-diabetic. We don't snore anymore. We're so much healthier now. I'm thankful that I had the courage to seek out WLS despite all of the negative things that family, friends, and co-workers had to say about it. I'm thankful that I we had such a good surgeon and good bariatric center to have the surgery performed. |

I am so thankful for my Lord, my family, especially my husband, and the health given to me by my RNY. My husband has been seriously ill this year and in the hospital for 6 months. I am thankful for this life that God has given me. The forgiveness that I walk in everyday. With all my imperfections God still loves me and has given me that love with no cost to myself. Everything that I love he has given to me. My husband, my family, my friends. I have a job when so many don't. And even though my husbands company closed after 30 yrs, God has kept us in the green. Giving us what we need right on time every time. I am even thankful that I grew up obese. I think it has made me into the person I am. I like me. I don't like the weight which is why I am having the surgery. But I like who I grew up to be. I may not have been who I am if I had grown up thin and in the in crowd. This life God has given me is a journey full of mountains and valleys, oceans and deserts. I am thankful for every step taken to get where I am and I am so looking forward to the rest of them. I am also thankful to all of you who encourage and empower those who visit this site daily. Be Blessed everyone!!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!! hopesahead |

Hey Kathy! I am thankful... ...that I know to give thanks to God each and everyday for the many blessings that he gives to me. ...for my two handsome sons as well as my family and their well being. ...for my job that I love and the extra perks that come along with it. ...to have had WLS. It has changed my life completely and I continue to learn from this journey daily. ...that I am able to pay it forward almost on a daily basis by giving a few hours of my time and making a difference in the lives of many. ...for the new love in my life. I pray that our relationship continues to grow stronger. Faith T. |

I am thankful that I found health insurance that would insure me with "Pre-existing issues" It really costs me a pretty penny, but I got to have WLS and it really has changed my quality of life. I just hope that everyone with a pre-existing condition will have health care soon and not have to go through the hassle and high cost that I have had to go through. I wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season! Lyndee |
