Pant sizes!

So I feel a bit sad with all the weight people post how much they have lost in the beginning (here and on the local Bariatric FB groups).  I am 3 months out and have lost 'only' 56 pounds.  My surgery roomate has lost over 100!  However she started over a 100 more than my start point and I feel that makes a difference. An really way to go her!!

BUT I put on jeans yesterday that were way to small when I bought them just over a month ago.  And I wore them to work.  They are the kind with the very bedazzled back pockets.  I had the sparkliest a$$ :D :D I have gone from a size 24 down to a size 18 in those 3 months. I figure that is pretty good :)

None of my bras fit right now as I have lost a long around my rib cage, but I hesitate to go buy new ones as the boobs themselves are deflating.  Other than the one size 18 jeans most of my things are too big.  My legs have lost faster than my belly so even the size 18 'skinny' jeans are a big baggy in the thighs.

Still what wonderful problems to have :)

I was just thinking yesterday how I'm thankful that no one else in my life has had surgery - it'll only be people here and on the support group that I attend to "compare" to. I'm working really hard to acknowledge the good in my life every day (I always do, but even more now) and that may or may not include my post op progress depending on the day LOL

I lost quite a bit of weight (about 80 pounds) in 2007-2008 before regaining, and still have a lot of the items that I wore at my smallest then, so it definitely helps! I had jeans that were my "big" jeans that I out grew for a while and I wore them last week and felt great, they were a little big, too which I love! As I got back to my highest weight again, I was wearing scrubs every day for work so I had no clue about my pants size going into surgery - Kinda glad I didn't LOL

It sounds like you're doing great to me!  Congrats on losing the sizes!

24 to 18 is amazing!  I need to take my measurements today but I am so tired I just feel like sleeping today.  So lazy, lol.

Hugs,

Kathy

Great job!  I sometimes feel like I'm a "slow loser" compared to everyone else, but I'm in it for the long haul.  Keep plugging away!

At my first post-op appointment with the NUT she commented that my weight loss was surprisingly slow.  I had been so excited... now I realize that everyone loses at a different pace and my "slow" weight loss (75 pounds so far) is just fine with me.  in 40 years of being an adult this is the first diet that ever worked.

Definitely do take measurements, everyone!  When the scale is not moving, is usually when the body is reorganizing and moving things around.  THAT is when you drop sizes

Everybody's body is different and will react differently to surgery and changes in eating habits. Don't EVER get down on yourself for losing "only" 56 lbs! The way I like to think of it is in sticks of butter-- you took 224 sticks of butter off of your body!! AND you fit in your hot jeans! You should be celebrating!!

My best friend just broke the 50 lb mark and she's almost three months out. So she's doing just as amazing as you are! It's not going to make you feel better to compare yourself to somebody else, so try to remember that you are doing this for yourself, not as a competition. It takes so much strength and determination to go through this entire process -- it's not for the weak. Keep plugging away... you'll reach your goal weight before you know it. Congratulations to you, love!
