Did your doctor take you off of any foods or beverages?

I have been checked out a couple times for the same thing - I've even worn the heart monitor for a weekend to "capture" it, but what every I'm feeling isn't a heart problem. Hopefully yours will turn out to be nothing also.

I hope you feel better SOON!

Your flutter is likely a benign thing. If you have no history of heart problems it is probably PVCs which are harmless.

From the Mayo Clinic site:

Premature ventricular contractions often cause no symptoms. But you may feel an odd sensation in your chest, such as:

  • Flip-flops
  • Fluttering
  • Pounding or jumping
  • Skipped beats or missed beats
  • Increased awareness of your heartbeat

Following up is for sure a great plan but try not to stress too much until you get checked out.

The ulcer thing sounds very similar to my recent troubles. I saw the gastro doc yesterday and he discontinued the Carafate (YAY!) and decided to keep me on a prescription dose of PPI for a year and monitor for symptoms. He said coffee and spicy food and all that is good to go. The low acid/coffee/spicy food advice doctors sometimes give is for 'normies' where their ulcers are in their bellies. Mine are way above that and at the margin between the pouch and the esophagus. In my case, the ulcers are (according to the scope) happening when my pouch gets full and the food backs up a little into my esophagus. He said smaller meals more frequently is all that matters, the types of food are not an issue.

Glad you got some answers and hoping you are feeling 100% again soon!

The treatment plan sound reasonable- I hope it helps.

When was your last basic blood panel? Anytime I hear racing heart I think to how I felt when my thyroid was out of whack. I had that, and stomach upset real bad-- (but it never progressed to reflux). Maybe its worth ensuring your thyroid level is ok

I have the heart racing thing, but after my glucose monitoring test, they decided it was dumping. I was ready to see a cardiologist, because it feels like I'm having a heart attack. My heartrate increases by about 20 BPM. I swear when it happens, I can HEAR my heart beating. Please make an appt. with the cardiologist. I don't like the sound of that

I wouldn't be all that surprised if that other patient recognized you from here. There are probably a lot of lurkers. I was one of them for several months...

late today. My dad seems to be in another downward spiral. I hope he pulls through again. I wrote his obituary yesterday just in case. His wife is meeting with the funeral home right now. Even if he pulls through, I'd be shocked if he's around much longer. Better to have all this stuff done ahead of time because we'll be in no mood to do it after he passes.... :-(

school looks great, JB!

QOTD: we are a Honda family. We have two Honda Civics (mine and DH's). Mine is 17 years old, his is 3. We've owned three or four other Hondas before these two (our last one was 17 years old, too - we only got rid of it because it had been badly vandalized, and it would have cost more to fix it than its book value. Boo. I loved that little car!)

eating has been really heavy so far today - I'm going to have to have a microscopic dinner - not many calories left!!

22 months out (maintenance)

B: Greek yogurt with flaxseed and raspberries. About 20 minutes later, a L&F yogurt with 2 T Kashi Crunch granola

S: coffee with half & half, mint protein shake

L: chicken salad wrap (whole low-carb tortilla, 3/4 C chicken salad), bag of Quest protein chips

D: ugh - maybe two turkey meatballs? I'd planned on carnitas again, but I'll have to check to see if that will put me over my calorie budget

exercise: yoga if I'm mentally up for it

I'm sorry about your Dad. Glad you can get planning out of the way before the emotional roller coaster takes off.
