9 days post-op feeling way better
May 05, 2009
Today was my one week post op visit. I got my drain taken out and my staples removed. I didn't think it hurt at all. I'm feeling much better. I'm drinking more water and drinking my 32 oz of synthrax kiwi strawberry protein drink. I put 4 scoops in I'm only getting 32-45 protein grams but In the beggining it's hard to get to the full required amount. My doctor said I'm doing great. I've lost 34 pounds total, but that is pre-op and post-op weight loss combined. I started in October. Since surgery one week ago, I lost 19lbs. Nine of those pounds was fluid that I gained from surgery. The day after surgery I was 259 but the day of the surgery I was 250 so I guess I had alot of post surgery fluid. I'm feeling no pain in my incisions sites. I only have pain on my right side because I pulled muscles. I was using my right side more for twisting and bending because I have all the insisions more on the left. So I overused my good side. I'm not on pain meds anymore. Next week on day 15 post-op I get to advance my diet. I will be able to have pureed and soft foods. I'm so excited. I still have to be on liquids one more week. I thought I would get to advance on today, but I have to go exactly by the surgeries office post-op manual. I'm wondering if I could start a day or two early. For Mother's day it would be awesome if I could eat some cottage cheese and a little tuna mixed with miracle whip(fat free of course) Anyways I'm blabbing on and on. I just wanted to blog because I haven't in a few days. My last one was alittle negative cuz i felt like crap. I appreciate everyone who has sent messages asking if I was better now. Thank-you to all my friends I've meet here. I hope everyone of you is doing well. Take care everybody. Crystal

Not feeling so well today, worried I hope this is normal
May 02, 2009
I'm really worried cuz I woke up this morning feeling horrible. I went to bed early around 9pm then woke up at 10am. Maybe I got too much sleep. I was hurting really really bad when I woke up. Maybe because I hadn't had pain pills for hours. I have a horrible headache and feel like I could possibly pass out. I know I haven't been eating much. I only eat two jellos and two to three popcicles per day. I haven't been drinking broth because I burnout on it. I do try to add the protein powder to my water and sugar free cranberry juice. I drink at least 3 cups of juice with protein in it. I think I'm drinking enough water. Part of me thinks I feel this way because I'm not getting as much calories as before my operation. I feel so tired and having bad cramping in my stomach. My incisions look good, no signs of infections. My drain is draining the normal colors it should have. I just feel like something is wrong but can't put my finger on it. Maybe I'm over doing it. I don't really get to sit and relax in the day. I have a 5 year old and a husband that I still need to take care of. I feel like I could just sleep all day today. I hoping this is all a normal feeling of recovery. I'm wondering if I need to go into the ER or something. I will try to rest today, and drink more protein. If anyone felt similar to this post op please let me know if this is normal. I'm only 6 days post-op. Thanks Crystal
