Portsmouth Regional Hospital

"I was a bit disappointed in the aftercare. The nurses aides had to be asked to help out with washing up. They would come in each day with a new johnny and sheets and towels and put them on a shelf in my room but if I didn't ask to wash up...they wouldn't offer. That's a little scary since for the first two days I was completely out of it. I had explained to the hospital and anesthesiologist that I was sensitive to medication prior to surgery. They overmedicated me in the hospital and I crashed on the first night. They were unable to wake me up and my oxygen levels went down to 20%. The surgery went great. The aftercare isn't so great. I spent the entire after care time telling them how to medicate me and fighting with some of the nurses who just wanted to give me the other meds that made me sick. That was frustrating. I would also ask for sf popsicles and had to ask more than once before it came. I would think that someone who should be sipping all the time and hydrating themselves would get the liquids very quickly. I had trouble with just water...it was disgusting. So, I think the nurses' aides need a little more training. The nurses themselves were great. "

"I have consulted with Dr. Lambert of Dover Surgical Associates. My first impression was great! He was so nice and younger than I expected. He really understands obesity as a disease and made me feel good about my decision regardless of the stuff going on in the news. The office staff are really nice and helpful, and the program at WDH is a great one including exercising with a personal trainer at the gym four time pre-op and twice post op. Dr. Lambert gave up on doing surgery and I am now going to Atlantic Surgical Associates, Dr. Looser. He is very nice and experienced and ready to go as soon as insurance says yes!!! The plan is fabulous, I have classes that are wonderful and Betty in the office is so nice and helpful! I give Dr. Looser and staff a nine and they would have a ten if they had called me the first time around!!!!! I give major kudos for them putting me right in line after Dr. Lambert gave up on his patients though!"
