Three years out

Oct 26, 2010

Well this month is 3 years out from surgery for me. I did absolutely horrible over the summer. I tried doing low carb, kept trying low carb and wound up gaining a total of 28 lbs from my lowest weight. Low carb doesn't work for me because I eat too many calories.
In June when I had a large amount removed from my band things went from bad to worse with my weight. I had gotten to where I couldn't eat anything, not even healthy things. So of course I then was able to eat and didn't always pick good things. I have found I like more vegetables than I use to.
Anyway I decided to go back to Weight Watchers. I lost 2 lbs before I actually weighed in and another 3.2 for the first week. I am glad I am back with WW. I can still eat regualr food and count the points. I still have to make good choices but if I don't occasionally I can count it into my plan.
My goal is to lose the 28 lbs I gained then after the first of the year go back and get a fill to help my portion sizes again.
218 has been my highest first thing in the mornings since I have gained. I weighed in at 218.2 at WW in the evening and now at 215 after the first week.
I know I can do this again. For Thanksgiving I am going to have a lot of fresh vegetables cut up so I can eat those and not as much of the higher calorie foods. That is my goal.

NO MORE SABOTAGE

Aug 02, 2010

I did really well eating low carb for about a week and a half, lost 3 lbs then had 3 days of eating bad and gained up to 203. I am up 16 lbs from my lowest. I am back over 200 lbs again and I don't want to be.
NO MORE sabotaging myself, NO MORE letting others sabotage me. I have to get my motivation back and my will power.
My first goal is to lose these 16 lbs then move forward. I have eaten very low carb today and started my Couch to 5K training today.
I have to do this, I have worked too hard to lose weight and I will not allow myself to go back to where I started. I WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!

Starting over

Jul 18, 2010

I am starting over today. I weighed 199 this morning. Up 9 lbs from my plateau and 12 lbs from my lowest. I admit I have not been good with my eating since I got back from vacation.
I am going to try low carb, high protein for 2 weeks to see if that kicks me in again. If that doesn't work I guess I will have to count calories and stay around 1000 cal/day.
I did my 6th 5K yesterday and it kicked my but. I had shin splints the whole time. I plan to start walking everyday no matter what. If it is too hot to walk outside I can go to the Y and use the treadmill.
I fixed a low carb bacon chesseburger quiche for breakfast today. It was pretty good. Starting off good with the low carb meals.

Still not losing

Jul 11, 2010

Well after my unfil I weighed 195.5 the day I left on vacation. I ate well, low carb high protein and had lots of activity. We walked a lot, went up and down steps in all the caves, walked around the park for 2 days and when I got back I still weighed 195.5. I am disappointed because I really thought I would lose.
So far nothing I have done is helping me to lose weight. I am very frustrated. My lowest weight has been 187. I have been 190 for several months and now 195.
I do feel so much better since my unfil, I was too tight for to long.
Oh well I have to keep plugging along.

Unfil

Jun 23, 2010

Today I had an unfil of 3-4 cc. Lately I have been vomiting everyday, sometimes several times a day. I have been very nauseated and having headaches, I have just plain felt like crap.
I told the doctor I wanted him to take a lot out, I didn't care how much he took out just so I would feel better.
Already this evening I feel a lot better. I know I will have to watch my eating more, I will have to control my portion sizes. I do not plan on going back to eating things that I haven't eaten for almost 3 years.
Just because I am looser now doesn't mean I can go back to bad eating habits.
I am going to continue doing my 5K's and more activity as my schedule allows. I don't look at this unfil as a setback but as a way of continuing my journey.

Third 5K

Jun 06, 2010

I finished my third 5K today. I shaved off 2.51 minutes off my second 5K. My first was 56:15, second 54:06 and third 50:55. Every 5K I have done I have bettered my time.
I have another one next Saturday. I know I won't always be able to better my time by 2-3 min, but at least I am able to do them.

5K Walk

May 15, 2010

Today I did my first 5K walk. I finished in 56min which is a horrible time but for me that is good. I finished last, which I knew I would, but that is ok. The guy timing the finishes wasn't even at the finish line when I came through.
I plan to better my time with each 5K that I do from now on. I also want to try the mini marathon in Indy next May. I have to be able to finish in 4 hours which makes it a 18 min mile walk. I have a lot of training to do by then but that is my goal.

I am still stuck at this weight of 187-190. No matter what I do it doesn't go any lower than 187. Maybe with training for the mini and doing a lot of 5K's I will break the platuea.

EGD results

Feb 17, 2010

Monday I went to the doctor for my results. It showed a possibility of pouch dilatation. I am suppose to journal all my food for the next 3 months and work on portion sizes. I will have another EGD in May and if the pouch has shrunk some then I can have more added to my band if needed.

I found a neat site thedailyplate.com. It can track all my calories and protein, etc for me. It is a lot easier to journal when I don't have to try to find all the calories and stuff.

I gained 2 lbs from the last time I weighed at the doctors office. I really don't think that is bad considering I had some saline removed from my band before Christmas.

I have met with a personal trainer at the Y and trying to exercise more. She has also given me some food ideas. I need to try different stuff because I am in such a rut with my eating. I am really tired of eating the same stuff all the time.
I have tried edemane, greek yogurt and hummus. I like them all.

I gained 4 lbs on my scale from Christmas and I have lost 2 so I have 2 more to go to get back to 94 lbs then on to 100. It would be really nice if I could be at goal by Oct. 2. That would be my 3 year bandaversary. Something to shoot for!

Two NSV's

Jan 05, 2010

Today I went to my family doctor for a routine follow up for diabetes. My A1C is 5.5 without taking any meds. I AM NO LONGER DIABETIC. It was 5.2 last time with taking one pill a day. I haven't taken meds for about 6 months and the labs prove I don't need them anymore.
He took diabetes and high cholesterol off my diagnosis codes.

The second NSV is my son keeps telling me "Mom you look really tiny" Me? Tiny? I never thought I would hear that about me.
It makes me feel really good. Everyone likes to have scale victories (I know I do) but when you think about it the NSV can be just as important if not more important.

Unfil

Dec 16, 2009

Went to the doctor today for regular checkup. I have been having a few problems lately. I have been having reflux at night. I don't eat much anymore, maybe one meal and a snack or two a day. It took me a whole day to get down 1.5 cups of chili the other day.

My last fill was in July, when I went back in Oct. I was doing well with my weight loss and eating. But since then I have been having more trouble eating etc.
The doctor said he thinks maybe I had a stuck episode and the swelling just hasn't been allowed to go down because of eating. I didn't really want to get an unfill so the doctor sent me to get an esophagram to check the band. It didn't show a slip. The radiologist said everything really looked good except the dye wasn't going down hardly at all, because it was too tight.
I went back to the office and the doctor took .5 cc out. He still thinks it is just from swelling. He said he would look at my test in the next couple of days to see what he thinks it might be.
So I am suppose to be on liquids for the next 2 days. I have only had 2 protein shakes today.

Note to self- don't try to work out with only having drank 2 protein shakes. I went to the Y to do water aerobics and had to stop after 30 minutes because my blood sugar was dropping. By the time I got dressed and to the lobby I was shaking. It took a bottle of apple juice and a bottle of orange juice to bring my sugar up enough to drive home.
I ate some bean soup (chewed well) and now I feel a lot better.

My weight today was 187 at home and 192 at the doctor. I have lost 94 lbs total. I also had to buy a new pair of jean a size smaller since starting working out at the Y.
