Devistating Day

Jan 18, 2018

Today I awoke excited, Surgery date set for Feb 19 2018...Optifast ordered...Then at lunch I get an E Mail from Dr Malik's office saying Surgery is canceled as Kim at the Bariatric center said I did not complete the program.  I was so confused...What Program?  What had I been doing for the last couple of months, labs, sleep study, 3 trips to Victoria 5 hrs each time plus Dr's Visit or endo scope etc.....I had been logging my meals have been on this site reading daily.  I did see differences but the Canadian Forum is mostly about Ontario although there is a BC site but not much info there.  I had no idea I missed something.  I mentioned to the receptionest when Dr Malik first called that I was surprised the wait was so short and they assured me I was approved for surgery....Now I am told I have to wait and start all over, although the orientation has been moved closer, but I feel like there is not much info I will gain in the orientation that I dont already know from all the meetings I have done...I know about all the surgery's and Dr Malik's preferred Gastric sleeve...Being an RN I have a strong understanding of the biology and nutrient differences after surgery. I already have the surgical diet for day1- week 1to 2- week 3 to 4 week 4 to 8...I have sample menus as well.  I know I have to see a nutritinist and physician again to go over my logs and OK my as a candadite, (although I have been cleared by Dr Malik) I am on lose it to track food and fit bit to track exercise and fluid intake....

I am trying to not let this punch in the gut side track me too much but after the tears dried I am left feeling lost in BC's Health Care System once again and am afraid my health will continue to deteriate before I am offered the help I need to get my life back
