Governor Chris Christie: Shut Up About My Weight!

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is upset with a former White House doctor who has publicly commented about his obesity and the possibility of him dying in office should he run for President in 2016.

In an interview with CNN, Dr. Connie Mariano spoke of her concerns that Christie may have a heart attack or stroke due to his weight.

"It's almost like a time bomb waiting to happen unless he addresses those issues before running for office," Mariano said.

Her comment came on the heels of Christie's first appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman where he made light of his weight by munching on a donut as Letterman was in the midst of sharing with the Governor that he has made jokes about him and his weight in the past.  Christie went on to share with the audience one of his personal favorite Letterman jokes:

"A billion dollars will be spent on potato chips for Super Bowl Sunday, and that's just at Governor Christie's house."

Obesity is no laughing matter...

While recognizing that his struggle with obesity is a serious and on-going concern, Christie referred to the doctor as just another hack looking for five minutes of fame.

"She should shut up."  Christie says.  "I find it fascinating that a doctor in Arizona who has never met me, never examined me, never reviewed my medical history or records, knows nothing about my family history, could make a diagnosis from 2,400 miles away. She must be a genius," Christie said.  "My children saw that."  Christie's preteen son asked him if he was going to die and that did not set well with him.

Dr. Mariano, who is a republican just as Christie is, supports the Governor's possible run for office but states that she is a physician more than she is a Democrat or Republican.

"I'm worried about this man dying in office." she says.
